Not only did Governor Tony Evers sign 12 month postpartum Medicaid expansion into law today, he also hosted a Women's Health Roundtable Discussion!

And as one may guess, one of the fiercest advocates for access to women's health care was sitting at that table speaking up and speaking out.

The Title X Safety Network in Wisconsin is at risk. There are over 30 rural access points to women's and reproductive health in WI, that could see devastating funding cuts due to the uncertainty of the federal landscape.

But today not only did Jessie talk about the problem, she offered solutions for sustainable funding and continued access. It is not all rainbows and unicorns, but there is a path forward and an opportunity to seize.

History

Healthfirst, formerly known as Family Planning Health Services, or FPHS, is a non-profit community health provider in central Wisconsin. Incorporated in 1973, FPHS set forward to develop a quality facility that offered confidential reproductive health and WIC services in Marathon County. Since 1973, FPHS has expanded its geographical footprint and now offers WIC services in three counties and health services in eight counties.

Introducing Healthfirst

During the summer of 2016, FPHS embarked on a new journey through a facilitated strategic planning process. Through that process, it was identified that our name, Family Planning Health Services, did not reflect all of the services and programming that was offered through the organization. Knowing that our brand was confusing, we decided to rebrand with a name that would be inclusive to all of the services we offer. Through the assistance of 6AM marketing, FPHS has transitioned to Healthfirst.
