We sat down with Kimberly Ball, APNP, to talk about how the culture at OAW plays a key role in the level of care and satisfaction our patients experience.

We’re proud to offer a comprehensive, in-house approach, from imaging and initial diagnosis to surgery at the Wausau Surgery Center, followed by rehabilitation with PRO Physical Therapy.

It’s National Foam Rolling Day! Love it or hate it, a foam roller can be a game-changer for your recovery.

Why grab the roller?
🔹 Melts Tension: Targets "trigger points" to release tight muscle knots.
🔹 Boosts Mobility: Increases your range of motion and flexibility.
🔹Speeds Up Recovery: Improves circulation to help muscles heal faster.

While foam rolling is a fantastic maintenance tool, it isn’t always a "fix-all" for underlying issues. If you’re dealing with a nagging ache or a specific injury that just won't quit, it's time to bring in the pros.

At PRO Physical Therapy, we’re here to help you move beyond temporary relief. Schedule an assessment with our expert team to:
🔹 Get a professional injury assessment.
🔹Receive a custom treatment plan tailored to your body.
🔹Learn targeted exercises designed to get you back to doing what you love, pain-free.

Don’t just roll with the pain; let’s treat it.

As offered by PRO and OAW, physical therapy and occupational therapy are complementary disciplines with different primary objectives for patient outcomes.

Physical Therapy (PT)
The primary focus of PT is the biomechanical physical restoration of the body. PTs address impairments through the lens of movement science to improve:

🔺Gross Motor Function: Walking, transfers, and gait stability.
🔺 Musculoskeletal Integrity: Increasing strength and range of motion.
🔺Pain Management: Reducing localized discomfort through therapeutic exercise and manual techniques.

Occupational Therapy (OT)
The primary focus of OT is functional performance in daily life. OTs evaluate the "occupations" or tasks that a patient needs to perform, focusing on:

🔺Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): Self-care tasks like dressing, feeding, and hygiene.
🔺Cognitive and Fine Motor Integration: Coordinating hand dexterity and mental processing to complete complex tasks.
🔺Environmental Adaptation: Modifying a home or workspace to facilitate independence despite physical limitations.

Physical Therapy treats the underlying physical impairment to improve how the body moves. Occupational Therapy addresses functional limitations to improve how a person interacts with their world.
