This week at Applegate, we stepped out of our routines and into a perspective that truly mattered.

In collaboration with our partners at the Aging & Disability Resource Center of Central Wisconsin, our team and community experienced a powerful sensory simulation that offered a glimpse into what daily life can feel like for someone living with dementia. By temporarily altering our senses, we were reminded just how challenging and even overwhelming everyday moments can be - and how important patience, compassion, and understanding truly are.

Experiences like the help us grow, learn, and care even better. We are incredibly grateful to the ADRC for sharing this meaningful experience, and proud to be a community that leads with empathy, purpose, and heart.

Wausau Manor Health Services and Applegate Terrace spent the day celebrating our Maintenance Assistant Nick as he been promoted to Maintenance Director at Colonial Health Services. We are sad to see him leave our campus, but excited to see his growth through this new adventure.

Championed by Marian McQuade, National Grandparents Day was officially established by President Jimmy Carter in 1978, designating the first Sunday after Labor Day as National Grandparents Day to strengthen intergenerational bonds and recognize the importance of seniors. 👴👵💕
