She believes her success as a nurse practitioner requires her to have continual dedication to help impact and improve the lives of her patients through a lifelong pursuit of knowledge and personal growth. As she has experienced the impact of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD) in patients through primary care, she has recently switched her interest to focusing on helping these patients. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, vacationing, being outdoors, and watching her son play hockey.

Relax Your Jaw: Check Throughout the Day That Your Teeth Are Apart and Muscles Are Loose. (Koala Center for Sleep Disorders)

Practice "Active relaxation" throughout the day by checking that your teeth are slightly apart and your facial muscles are loose. This simple habit helps reduce the cumulative muscle tension that often leads to nighttime clenching and morning jaw pain.

Tired of living with jaw tension? Contact Koala® Center For Sleep & TMJ Disorders today to learn more about our specialized TMJ treatments.

Why Do I Feel “Locking” or “Popping” in My Jaw First Thing in the Morning? (Koala Center for Sleep Disorders)

Popping and clicking are often caused by the cartilage disc inside your jaw joint slipping out of place due to nighttime muscle tension or clenching. If left untreated, this displacement can progress to "locking," where the jaw becomes stuck or has a significantly limited range of motion.

Is your jaw trying to tell you something? Call Koala® Center For Sleep & TMJ Disorders or visit us online to book a professional evaluation.

Alcohol Helps You Sleep Better If You Have Apnea. (Koala Center for Sleep Disorders)

While alcohol may help you fall asleep faster, it actually acts as a muscle relaxant that causes the throat muscles to collapse more easily. This significantly worsens airway obstructions and leads to more frequent breathing interruptions throughout the night.

Ready for a truly restful night? Contact Koala® Center For Sleep & TMJ Disorders today to discover a healthier way to sleep.

How Does an Imbalanced Bite Contribute to Facial Pain and Headaches? (Koala Center for Sleep Disorders)

When your teeth don't align properly, your jaw muscles must constantly overcompensate to chew and swallow, leading to muscle fatigue and inflammation. This strain often radiates outward, causing chronic facial pain and morning headaches that are frequently mistaken for migraines.

Don't let an imbalanced bite control your day; reach out to our team at Koala® Center For Sleep & TMJ Disorders for lasting relief.

Why “Morning Headaches” Are Often a Jaw or Airway Signal? (Koala Center For Sleep & TMJ Disorders)

Do you Wake up with a dull, throbbing headache that fades as the day goes on? At Koala® Center For Sleep & TMJ Disorders, we find that morning headaches are rarely "just a headache." They are often caused by the jaw muscles working overtime to keep your airway open or by the strain of TMJ Disorder. By using a custom oral appliance to bring your jaw into a harmonious, relaxed position, we can help eliminate the root cause of the tension - so you can wake up pain-free and truly refreshed.

Fact: It is a systemic cardiovascular and metabolic health risk. Untreated sleep apnea puts immense strain on your entire body. Why Is Snoring Often More Difficult to Diagnose in Women than in Men? (Koala Center For Sleep & TMJ Disorders)

Women frequently experience "atypical" symptoms such as insomnia, morning headaches, and exhaustion rather than just loud snoring. Because their symptoms don't always match the traditional "loud snorer" profile, their sleep disorders are often overlooked or misdiagnosed.
