I yelled out with excitement when I got this email today! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

This training is highly sought after and difficult to get into.

For anyone who doesn't know, IFS (or Internal Family Systems) is a therapeutic approach that says we're all made up of "parts."

In IFS therapy, we get to know each of your parts. And for the ones that are protective and wounded, we slowly work on resolving the pain and helping you uncover and express your true self.

Your true self includes your confident, calm, curious, centered, creative, playful, etc. parts.

I've taken other IFS trainings and love using it with my clients, but I'm *so excited* to take the Level 1 training through the IFS Institute to deepen my knowledge and understanding ๐Ÿ’™

Have you heard of cPTSD (aka complex trauma)? ๐Ÿค”

CPTSD differs from PTSD.

PTSD is a condition that can form after a single traumatic event.

Some common events that may result in PTSD include a car accident, experiencing a one time assault or other violent act, and a severe injury.

--------------------

cPTSD is a condition that can form as a result of repeated traumatic events.

Some common events that may result in cPTSD include chronic invalidation, rejection, bullying, and ab*se.

Some symptoms overlap with PTSD, like hypervigilance (always feeling on edge), nightmares, and emotional dysregulation.

Some of the symptoms that stand out with cPTSD are a deeply ingrained sense of unworthiness and somatic symptoms (like chronic headaches, pain, or gastrointestinal issues).

--------------------

cPTSD can also co-occur with OR be misdiagnosed as some other conditions, like borderline personality disorder, Autism Spectrum disorder, and ADHD.

This is why it's so important to work with therapists, psychologists, and psychiatrists who have a strong knowledge and understanding of cPTSD and how to help you heal.

What questions do you have about cPTSD?

Something that has come up in sessions with clients is the overwhelming feeling that there's nothing they can do to help the environment ๐ŸŒ

And I get it!

It can absolutely feel overwhelming and like our individual actions don't make much of a difference,

But that doesn't need to stop us from putting in the effort and engaging in actions that match our values.

So, now in the waiting room at No Worries Wellness, you'll find a place where you can drop off your empty medication bottles.

Why? ๐Ÿค”

Because many recycling facilities don't have the proper equipment to actually recycle these small bottles, which means they end up in the trash ๐Ÿšฎ anyways!

But now if you recycle them with us, they'll be sent to a company called that recycles the bottles and turns them into sunglasses ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Help us help the environment, one med bottle at a time ๐Ÿ™‚โค

Last week, I had a networking event scheduled for Monday morning.

This is a recurring event that happens every two months with a great group of people.

I haven't been able to attend the last couple of meetings due to scheduling conflicts.

So, I was looking forward to going back.

But then Sunday night hit ๐ŸŽฏ

I had just been at another marketing-networking event on Saturday.

My social battery was running pretty low.

So, I had to make the tough decision to either:

1๏ธโƒฃ Push through and risk being tired and overwhelmed, not being able to show up how I want to in other areas of my life.

2๏ธโƒฃ Not go and miss the chance to connect with my networking group but feel better mentally and emotionally.

Ultimately, it came down to taking the risk of disappointing someone else by not going or disappointing myself by going.

I chose not to go.

I'm so glad I did, and my nervous system thanked me for it ๐Ÿ’™

How can you apply this to your life this week?

Next time you notice you're having critical of judgmental thoughts about others:

โธ Pause

๐Ÿ‘€ Check in with yourself

๐Ÿ›ก What is this criticism protecting you from?

Acknowledge that critical part of you and thank it for trying to protect you.

๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™€๏ธ What need isn't being met?

Try to meet that need.

For example, if your need for socialization/belonging isn't being met, reach out to a friend.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Taking these steps will send signals to your mind and body to put the armor down, letting it know it's safe now and that you are capable of meeting your needs ๐Ÿ’™
