This patient was referred to me for complete left facial paralysis that occurred following injury of his facial nerve during removal of a benign parotid tumor at an outside facility. Photos show him before and after facial reanimation surgery with a masseter to facial nerve transfer, lower eyelid canthopexy, and facia lata static sling and nasal valve suspension. Grateful for the opportunity to take care of patients with facial paralysis using the full breadth of reconstructive and aesthetic facial plastic surgery techniques!

This 18 year old patient was referred to me for nasal obstruction and a crooked nose. I performed a functional septorhinoplasty 6 weeks ago and was excited to see her this week for a follow-up. She is now breathing very well and happy with her much straighter nose and improved profile. As you can see in her photos, she has underlying facial asymmetry (as most everyone does to some degree) which makes rhinoplasty surgery in these patients even more challenging. She still has some external swelling which will slowly resolve over the next year.

I was thrilled to see this 73 year old patient for follow-up last week after treatment for his severe rhinophyma. Rhinophyma is considered to be a subtype of rosacea and is characterized by chronic inflammation and sebaceous gland hypertrophy, resulting in progressive enlargement and thickening of the nasal skin. Severe cases can lead to significant disfigurement and obstruction of the nasal airway. Contrary to some popular myths, rhinophyma is NOT associated with alcohol consumption. I treated this patient in the office under local anesthesia with our Sciton erbium:Yag laser over the course of two separate sessions about 1 month apart. The first session involved sharp debulking of the larger areas of tissue + laser treatment while the second session was laser treatment alone. He is shown about 6 weeks from his 2nd treatment and now has a much more normal appearing nose and can breathe much better! According to his wife: “he now has the nose I married!” 🥰

This very kind 67 year old patient of mine was the unfortunate bystander and victim of violence resulting in hospitalization at an outside facility for a severe nasal fracture and head injuries. Due to her other injuries, her nasal fracture was not addressed immediately and she was ultimately referred to me as an outpatient for the significant nasal deformity and nasal obstruction. She is shown here before surgery along with the CT imaging showing the extent of her nasal fracture. Swipe right to see the results of her reconstructive rhinoplasty. Her surgery required complete reconstruction of her nasal septum along with use of a diced ear cartilage graft for mild augmentation of her nasal bridge.

This 48 year old woman came to see me because of longstanding dissatisfaction with the appearance of her chin and jawline profile and sagging skin. She is shown here before and 6 months after her chin implant and deep plane face and neck lift. The combination of these procedures can give a dramatic but very natural appearing result!

It's all in the eyes! This patient came to me with concerns about her heavy eyelids obstructing her vision and lower eyelid bags which would rub and smudge her eyeglasses. She is shown here 5 months after I performed an upper blepharoplasty and an extended lower blepharoplasty to treat her lower eyelid festoons.

A little late getting this posted.... I am excited to welcome our 2021-2022 facial plastic and reconstructive surgery fellow, Dr. Anna Bakeman (). Anna hails from Grand Rapids, MI and came to us after completing her Otolaryngology residency at the University of Pittsburgh. However, she is no stranger to Milwaukee as she was one of our former MCW medical students. It is great to have her back at MCW and she has been off to a wonderful start so far! Looking forward to working with this year!

We are so excited to have our very first facial plastic and reconstructive surgery fellow joining us this year! Dr. Rachel Fee just completed her residency training with us and will now be spending the next year working with me along with my colleagues, Dr. Rhee and Dr. Zenga (microvascular reconstructive surgeon). We look forward to training her in the full breadth of reconstructive and cosmetic facial plastic surgery, including microvascular head and neck reconstruction. Our fellowship is currently outside the AAFPRS match as we await review of our fellowship program application this Fall, but very happy we could get our program off the ground at the Medical College of Wisconsin this year!
