Our annual Classic Car Show remains a massive hit with community members and residents alike!

Shari Garza, Life Enrichment Manager remarked, "We had a total of 39 cars this year! Our oldest car was a 1928 Model A, and our youngest was a 2000 Ford Mustang Saleen. We had a foreign vehicle, "Alfa Romeo", '55 station wagon, Cadillacs, many Corvettes, Ford Fairlanes, and a 1977 AMC Pacer." Car owners enjoyed live music from Wolfman Troy, free food, popcorn, a commemorative t-shirt, and raffle prizes.

"Residents and car owners were delighted and can't wait for next year! " said Garza.

Not to be left out, much like our friends in The Gardens memory care community, our residents in assisted living, The Courtyards, had a beach party of their own! The residents enjoyed music, volleyball, taco salad, creamsicles, watermelon, tropical beverages (both leaded and unleaded 😃), and, most importantly, lots of fun was had by all!

Residents from our memory care community (The Gardens) and assisted living community (The Courtyards) took an excursion to the Boerner Botanical Gardens recently. Along with their picnic boxed lunches, they enjoyed God's creation and spending time together!

Last week, our residents in The Gardens at Luther Manor memory care community had a beach party! The festivities featured chips and dip, watermelon, orange creamsicles and tropical drinks. Fortunately, we got it in just before September came!

Luther Manor is excited to announce our new Director of Operations!

Gabriel Watt brings over 20 years of maintenance expertise, beginning his career in property management as an entry-level technician and quickly advancing into supervisory and senior care leadership positions. He spent nearly a decade overseeing maintenance and housekeeping for a primary Milwaukee provider before stepping into the role of Director of Plant Operations at a faith-based facility. Now at Luther Manor, Gabe leads the maintenance, security, grounds, and transportation teams, and takes pride in supporting a community that values both residents and staff.

Originally from South Texas, Gabe moved to Wisconsin 35 years ago, building a wonderful life with his husband, David. Together, they are blessed with two daughters, two sons-in-law, and five grandchildren. Gabe already feels at home at Luther Manor and looks forward to being an integral part of this exceptional family.

Last week, we welcomed new friends, future residents, and community members who raised their hands to learn more about senior living. We had insightful discussions with experts on fall prevention, recognizing and avoiding scams, and the ups and downs of Medicare. Special thanks to Ben Merens, Stacie Opahle, and Nancy Shea for generously sharing their expertise and answering our questions!

We enjoyed a delicious lunch, gave away door prizes, and had plenty of fun while learning a lot. Thank you all for joining us—we look forward to seeing you at our next event!

Did you know that today is National Dog Day?! Dogs are often found on, around, or within Luther Manor's 29-acres. Some of them come along with our volunteers to visit and bring a smile to our residents. Others are the beloved pets of our residents in The Terrace, our independent living community. Wherever we may find or pet them, let's celebrate the dogs we encounter today and wish them a "Happy National Dog Day!"

We are proud to announce Brett Mays as our newest chef at Luther Manor!

Brett grew up in Key West, Florida, and quickly developed a love for the food and culture of this vibrant city. At age 14, she took her first “kitchen” job and discovered a passion that motivated her to pursue a culinary career. After graduating from the CIA in Hyde Park, New York, she immediately went to France and earned her pastry certificate from Le Cordon Bleu. Chef Brett’s extensive background includes leading teams at both Lambeau Field and American Family Fields as a Pastry and Executive Chef, along with three years as the Executive Chef at The Legend of Merrill Hills Golf Club in Hartland. After three years as Executive Chef at Sazama’s Catering in Milwaukee, she recently served as the Director of Food and Nutritional Services at Cedar Community in West Bend and Presbyterian Homes Stair Crest in Muskego. The mother of five spends her free time creating and serving dishes to her husband and daughter at home in Caledonia.
