We created the Children’s Wi

sconsin page as a space to share the inspiring and encouraging stories of our patients, their families and our fans, allowing you a space to connect with other individuals who have experiences with or affinity for Children’s Wisconsin. In this spirit, we welcome your comments, praise and criticism. While we always monitor and reply to messages and comments, it bears repeating that we’re not legally allowed to discuss specific patients via Facebook. If you have questions regarding your child, it’s best to reach out to their doctor directly. Please understand that while we make every effort to respond on social media, some inquiries may require follow-up through another channel. And please don’t share your personal information on our page — this is a public space. If we are requesting contact information from you, we’ll encourage you to provide it via private message. Children’s Wisconsin Facebook Rules of Engagement

We won't remove your comment just because we don't like it. You are part of our community, and you deserve to be heard, even if your comment is critical of your experience with us. With that in mind, we have some simple rules that we’ll apply out of respect for others visiting our page, or those who we may feature in our stories.

1) No name-calling
If you disagree with someone, that’s fine. If you have a criticism of Children’s Wisconsin, we want to hear it as well. But we ask that that you respect each other, our patients, their families and our staff. That means not using vulgar language, not mocking appearances or name-calling other members of the page or those individuals featured in our posts. Out of respect for our employees and their privacy, we may also remove a post or comment that refers to them by their full first and last name.

2) No profanity
We recognize that there’s a fairly broad definition of “profanity,” so we ask that you consider your words in the mindset of whether or not what you say is appropriate to be said around a child. If not, please reconsider posting.

3) No advertising or spam content
If you have something to sell, provide services or want a job, that's for your own page, not ours. Spam, whether to advertise or simply repeat any message multiple times on our Facebook wall, is also prohibited.

4) No copy and paste posting
If you keep posting the same thing (or a variant of the same thing), whether as a post or as a comment, we reserve the right to hide or delete duplicates. This includes efforts to cover messages or opinions of those with who you don’t agree with.

5) No misinformation
We view content posted on our page as a representation of our organization and ultimately our medical perspective, which extends to the comments and posts by our community members. For that reason, we may remove posts that contain misinformation as it relates to medical topics such as – but not limited to – vaccinations, COVID-19, community services and more. Actions we may take

1) On Reviews
We will request Facebook remove reviews from individuals who are not reviewing their own experience with our organization. Just because you have a bad experience and share it in a review does not mean we will request it be removed. We want to hear the bad reviews as much as we want to hear the good ones — we need to know when we’re falling short of our standards. That always matters to us.

2) On posts and comments
We reserve the right to delete posts or comments that violate these rules of engagement, and to block users who repeatedly violate them, or otherwise abuse the forum of the Children’s Wisconsin page.

3) Banning/blocking
As mentioned earlier, we may resort to banning individuals from our page should they continue to engage in toxic, inappropriate content as outlined in these rules.

Ashley Baggett from our Children’s Wisconsin Safety Center team shares some important tips for swimming in open water (like lakes, rivers and oceans) versus pools. Swimming in these environments can be challenging, and kids of all ages, swimming levels and abilities need to understand the differences to stay safe. And remember, constant supervision by an adult is the most important key to safety when swimming anywhere 💙.

Friendship is a powerful medicine. Just ask Ava and Nova.

Ava lives in Missouri and Nova lives in Arizona. The two bright, bubbly little girls met at Children’s Wisconsin while undergoing treatment for a rare eye cancer known as retinoblastoma. They became fast friends.

Over the last couple of years, the two girls and their families have stayed in close contact and met up at Children’s Wisconsin whenever possible. They’ve provided each other comfort and support during what can be a scary and lonely time.

“Friendship is the best when you’re going through a hard time,” said Ava’s mom. “Just having a friend that can help you get through it is really important.”

Read this blog post to learn more about Ava and Nova’s special bond and the providers in the Retinoblastoma Program at the MACC Fund Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders who have made sure their friendship will last a lifetime.

When two families came to Children's Wisconsin for cancer treatment, they never expected they'd leave with new lifelong friends.

A burn can happen in a blink of an eye. And, unfortunately, they’re all too common in kids. In fact, about 120,000 children under age 20 are seen in emergency departments for burns every year in the United States. And this 4th of July weekend, the risks are even greater.

Read this blog post by Kathey Wilson-Kocovsky, BSN, RN, Program Manager of the Children’s Wisconsin Burn Program, for tips to keep your kids safe from fireworks and other common burn dangers.

We have exciting news to share 🎉! Children’s Wisconsin has earned Magnet designation for the FIFTH consecutive time. Magnet recognition is the gold standard for nursing excellence. Achieving Magnet designation five times is exceptionally rare, with fewer than 0.5% of health systems worldwide reaching this milestone.

This incredible achievement belongs to our amazing nurses who provide hope, healing and heart every single day. From comforting scared little ones to celebrating recovery milestones with families, nurses make Children’s Wisconsin a place where kids can be kids. While this honor is reflective of our nursing practice, it is also based on how EVERY single team member collaborates across our organization to provide the best and safest care 💙.

Families, we’d love to hear from you! We invite you to thank a Children’s Wisconsin nurse who has made a difference in your life. Their kindness and care deserve to be celebrated! Share your notes of appreciation in the comments and we’ll be sure to share back with our incredible teams.

Meet Isaiah! He was diagnosed with Stage 4 neuroblastoma, a rare pediatric cancer, shortly before his second birthday. Isaiah faced an incredibly tough battle, guided by his care team at Children’s Wisconsin. He underwent multiple treatments including five rounds of chemotherapy, 28 days of radiation, a stem cell transplant and painful immunotherapy.

Isaiah is now an incredible 15-year-old who loves archery and skateboarding. His journey not only shaped who he is today but also helped pave the way for new treatment protocols that are saving the lives of other kids diagnosed with cancer.

You can help kids like Isaiah! Through July 6, shop at your local Walmart or Sam’s Club and make a donation at the register to support Children’s Wisconsin through Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Isaiah’s aunt, Liz, is a Coach at the Hartford Walmart and has been raising funds through this partnership for 32 years! Liz explained, “Your donation is not just going to some national organization, it stays right here at Children’s Wisconsin – an amazing resource that we have right here in our backyard that is saving kids every day just like my nephew Isaiah."

What an incredible day at Green Bay Kids' Day with the Green Bay Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department! Families enjoyed bubble magic with Michelle 🫧, interactive games and colorful temporary tattoos 🎨. As presenting sponsor, we loved supporting this community celebration and providing free rides at Bay Beach Amusement Park – because every child deserves the best, including a day filled with joy and laughter.

Shoutout to our friends at Chorus Community Health Plans for joining the fun!

Special thanks to Emplify Health by Bellin for joining us during this community event. Through a partnership called Connected for Kids, Children’s Wisconsin, ThedaCare and Emplify Health by Bellin are working together to make a greater impact in the lives of children and teens by connecting families to the highest level of pediatric health and wellness services.
