I’m Leah and I’m a new student at Authentic! I’m originally from Menomonee Falls, and currently am a resident of Tennessee. I’m so excited to be back at Authentic in this new role!

While I’m new to the student position, I’m not a stranger. I used to work at the front desk, about 7 years ago, before my husband Eric and I moved our family to Tennessee. Prior to that, Authentic had been an important part of my life and my journey. We have 6 kids, four of them were born under the stars at Authentic (one in each suite!). The first two kids were born under the care of LaNette before the birth center was built.

Having physiologic births and experiencing maternity care through the midwifery model was what sparked my interest to pursue midwifery. It’s been a long time coming, and feels like a calling that has been waiting for just the right time.

I’m so honored for the opportunity to walk with families as they welcome their babies under the stars. ✨

Under the twinkling stars of the Nest, Baby #1441 was welcomed by a strong and gentle mama and supportive and tender dad. Baby had been shy on the ultrasound, and when Mama first saw her baby, she exclaimed, “I finally get to see your face!” Welcome to the Authentic Family. Tic toc oh how these lovely parents watched the clock. Beautiful Baby #1440 kept them in suspense for quite some time but when they made their grand arrival, it was a sight to behold. Tears of joy streamed down Mom and Dad’s faces as they welcomed their little one into their arms and into the world. Now these three are all tucked in and resting well under the stars. ✨

Well supported by Baby’s first fan club, this mom labored with the perfect combination of power and grace. Authentic baby #1438 was a lesson in waiting for the perfect timing of birth. This mom had such confidence in her innate ability to birth her baby and this carried her through a long labor. She worked perfectly with her baby to navigate labor’s waves while Dad remained steady by her side and whispered loving words. This mom triumphantly lifted her baby into her own arms and the cheering grandmas and midwives teared up. What an immense honor to care for this family - rest well under the stars! ✨
