For our Authentic Moms who did not birth at the birth center: today we want to honor you. Your hard work and commitment and courage and perseverance throughout your pregnancies do not go unnoticed. You dreamed of your baby being born at Authentic under the stars; but your story changed course. You stepped out into Plan B with flexibility, grace, and resilience. You were brave, and though your birth plans changed, you made the perfect decisions for you and for your sweet babe.
But today we want to recognize and honor all of your feelings; we rejoice alongside you in the welcoming of new life while also acknowledging the longing and grief you feel for the birth that was not. These feelings can coexist; and you are not alone. Your feelings are shared by other families, other mamas.
Please let us know if you want to share your birth story; we'd love to allow you space and join you in your tears, joys, heartache, and love. Your birth and your baby hold a special place in our hearts; it was an absolute privilege to walk alongside you throughout your journey. We are honored and blessed to call you family.
