We are certainly seeing a rise in influenza cases. Here's what to know.
Symptoms: Fever, chills, muscle aches, sore throat, cough, and nasal symptoms mostly. Sometimes intestinal issues.
Testing: We test using a nasal swab with results in thirty minutes.
Treatment: For most, comfort care is the treatment. If your child is high risk- think young or chronic conditions especially respiratory like asthma- an antiviral may be useful. It can cut down a day or two from illness and reduce contagiousness. It works best if started early, the first day or so of illness.
