Epidemiology Update. Viral trends for the Midwest detailed in the attached graph.

Influenza, COVID, and RSV πŸ“ˆ but still a lot of rhinovirus (common cold). Parainfluenza (common cause of croup) starting to decrease.

We are certainly seeing a rise in influenza cases. Here's what to know.

Symptoms: Fever, chills, muscle aches, sore throat, cough, and nasal symptoms mostly. Sometimes intestinal issues.

Testing: We test using a nasal swab with results in thirty minutes.

Treatment: For most, comfort care is the treatment. If your child is high risk- think young or chronic conditions especially respiratory like asthma- an antiviral may be useful. It can cut down a day or two from illness and reduce contagiousness. It works best if started early, the first day or so of illness.

Know when to k​eep kids home during flu season, and keep your community and family healthy by getting vaccinated today. We are open 12/24 likely until about noon or whenever the phones slow down.
We are closed 12/25 but there is a doctor available for on call emergencies.
We are open 12/26 with usual hours, but may close early.
Usual hours Saturday with morning clinic 8-10+.

Influenza vaccine update. We are out of intranasal flu vaccine for commercial insurance patients, but have a few doses remaining for BadgerCare Plus insurance.

We still have injectable influenza vaccine stocked and ready for all patients 6mo and older. πŸ˜‰

Have you seen the Wisconsin Department of Health Services respiratory virus page? Here's the latest update for the southeastern region of WI. Influenza activity is rising but still in the low activity category. RSV and COVID still very low.

View data by activity level includes illnesses associated with COVID-19, influenza, RSV (respiratory syncytial virus), and general respiratory illnesses, such as cough or sore throat.
