💪 Why Every Overhead Athlete Should Care About the Serratus Anterior 💪
If you throw, lift, spike, swing, or press overhead — this muscle is a game changer. The serratus anterior plays a key role in scapular stability, shoulder mechanics, and injury prevention.
Without it firing properly, your shoulder is at a higher risk for: 🔥 Impingement
🔥 Labral or rotator cuff issues
🔥 Decreased power and control
Strengthening this underrated muscle helps keep the shoulder blade moving smoothly on the ribcage — allowing for better force transfer, improved mobility, and long-term joint health.
Check out these go-to exercises I use with my athletes to activate and build strength in the serratus. 🏋️♀️
Have shoulder pain or feel like your overhead movements are breaking down? It might be time to work from the ground up — starting with the serratus.
