🦷 Dental Tip Tuesday 🦷
After vomiting, your mouth is coated with stomach acids. If you brush right away, you risk brushing those acids into your teeth, which can wear down and damage enamel. The best first step is to rinse thoroughly with water to help neutralize the acids, then wait about 30 minutes before brushing.
Another quick tip: chewing sugarless gum with xylitol after rinsing stimulates saliva, which naturally helps wash away acids and protect enamel.
And don’t forget—replace your toothbrush after being sick to avoid lingering germs and reduce your risk of reinfection.
📅 A few simple steps can go a long way toward protecting your smile. Schedule your next hygiene visit today!
