Timber Ridge Bison

Timber Ridge Bison A family run bison ranch started in 1956 providing breeding stock, and healthy naturally raised bison Thank you for your support! The Wedekings

We are a 4th generation bison ranch that began in 1956 with a herd of 3. Over the years we have strived to develop a herd that is known for their conformation, temperament, and dark color. We now have close to 200 head roaming the hills south of Waverly and Clarksville. We are so thankful to have the opportunity to provide our community with a local, healthy food source. Our goal is to raise our bison in a manner that is consistent with its creation. As a ruminant animal, bison are designed to consume grass, and can reach optimal health by eating healthy pasture grass and hay, drinking fresh water, and having plenty of room to move and graze each day.

I was treated to another breathtaking sunset while haying the bison herd this evening.

On June 4, 2024, in Yellowstone National Park's Lamar Valley a miracle happened and what is believed to be the third, and the last White Buffalo Calf born, ushers in the time of purification on Mother Earth.

Considered sacred by many Native American tribes, this rare white calf was named Wakan Gli (Sacred Return) and is believed to fulfill a Lakota prophecy. We are at this time that the Ancestors talked about so many years ago, the third and final White calf. 🦬💕🦬

Allie Arp South Dakota State University 2/20/26

The Center of Excellence for Bison Studies was officially launched by South Dakota State University in 2020 as a hub of bison research. Since then, the center and its influence on a growing industry have continued to expand with the goal of improving the understanding, management, and health of bison and the economic viability of all bison producers. This past year, it was announced that it would be the first in the nation to offer a minor and certificate in bison studies, paving the way for future researchers.
