Recipe for a Healthy Spine
By Editorial Staff

You only have one spine, and you need it for a lifetime. Healthy spinal discs are one of the keys. Intervertebral discs act as cushions between spinal vertebrae, but "life" takes a toll. A lifetime of walking, standing and other activities, combined with the body's aging process itself, can deteriorate spinal discs over time, making them drier, thinner and more likely to crack.
It's called spinal disc degeneration, and it's no laughing matter. Among other problems, it can cause significant pain, not to mention limited range of motion and function. Periodic chiropractic adjustments are one of the ways to keep the spinal discs – and spine – healthy for a lifetime, reducing the risk of disc degeneration. Your chiropractor also may recommend supplements, particularly omega-3s, which new research suggests also may reduce the risk of degeneration.

This laboratory study, which appears in the research journal Medical Science Monitor, suggests daily omega-3 fatty acid supplementation [530 mg/kg/day of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) in a 2:1 ratio, administered in sucrose solution] "reduces systemic inflammation by lowering AA/EPA ratios in blood serum and has potential protective effects on the progression of spinal disc degeneration." AA, or arachidonic acid, is an omega-6 fatty acid – associated with the inflammatory process; as opposed to omega-3s, which are anti-inflammatory. Thus, improving the AA/EPA ratio (essentially meaning less inflammatory omega-6s compared to anti-inflammatory omega-3s) may positively impact spinal disc degeneration by reducing inflammation.

Your chiropractor can tell you more about disc degeneration and how chiropractic adjustments, supplements such as omega-3s, and other wellness care can keep your spine healthy for a lifetime.

6 years ago, I was honored to hear Dolvett speak at a conference and participate in a beach bootcamp :)

Here are some good reminders for us all...5 components of Health.

Dolvett keynote notes from Sunday 💜

5 components of health

Emotional- be balanced within yourself. Have a clear mind. Present the world the best version of you. How do I maintain my emotional health? Be sound and at peace within. Don’t doubt yourself, doubt doubt. Where is your coaching coming from? Talk to the small child in yourself. Move in a pattern of growth. Be careful what your listen to. Make sure that what you listen to, hold on to, make your own is the highest level of possibly. Get so good at motivating yourself that Nothing can pe*****te your purpose.

Mental- what am I reading? How many reps in my education? How many times do I exercise my mind? Audio, visual learner? Take the time to learn. Where is that in your day? Take some to be selfish. Take in knowledge. You need to know more!

Spiritual- the depth of your core, the stuff people can’t see. How strong is your spirit? The stuff that makes you go above and beyond what the others do. I WILL NOT GIVE UP- give yourself affirmations in a dark world.

Social- who you rock with determines who you are- “if you lay with dogs you get flees”. Be motivated by those around you. Association is elevation. Increase your level of LOVE!

Physical- all above lead to a strong physical health. Workout the doubt, workout the fear. Fear can’t control you, but you allow it too often.

*core of 5 components is LOVING ones self.

Happy Monday Everyone!! As most of you wake up today, we look outside and realize Spring is not quite here yet. Kids may have No School or Late starts, and you are here thinking, I still have to go to work or another day of taking care of the kids.
I feel you, it can all feel overwhelming, but if doesn't have to be. We can start the day off with a smile and positive thoughts. I simple "I've got This" to yourself in the mirror while brushing your teeth.

If you look for the positive you will find it. When your child is stressing you out, take a deep breath or 2 and calm yourself down and they may calm down also.

Stress and negative energy cause our body to become inflamed and that is where pain starts. Sometimes for a short period and others for a LONG time.

I hope this helps you find your happy place today.
