Karin E. Lack, a woman known for her strength, kindness, and unwavering loyalty, passed away on March 9, 2026, at Summit Hospital in Hermitage, Tennessee. Born on February 2, 1948, in Neuburg an der Donau, Germany, Karin carried her roots with her throughout a life marked by resilience, independence, and deep connection to those she loved. Her strong German accent and her warm spirit made her presence both comforting and unforgettable to all who knew her.

Karin’s journey took her across the world, living in Germany, New York, Alaska, California, North Carolina, and Tennessee. No matter where she went, she built community and left a lasting impression through her strong work ethic and genuine care for others. Though short in stature, she more than made up for it with her enormous heart and kindness, lovingly earning the nickname “Shorty.”

She was a parishioner of St. Stephen’s Church in Old Hickory, Tennessee. Karin was also a cherished member of her beloved German Kaffeeklatsch, where laughter, conversation, and friendship were always in abundance.

Though Karin had no immediate family in the United States, she is lovingly remembered by her cousins, Dagmar and Angelika of Munich, Germany. She is also survived by her best friend of over 60 years, Brigitte Sexton and her husband Ken, whose lifelong bond with Karin was one of deep love and unwavering support. Karin held a special place in the hearts of Brigitte’s family, including Renee, David, and Dominique Baldwin; Marc and Isabella Sexton; and Stefan and Megan Sexton, all of whom she loved as her own.

Karin spent her final months in La Vergne, Tennessee, where she made her home with her dear friend Susanna DeLeon, surrounded by love, comfort, and friendship.

Karin is further remembered by a wide circle of friends who became her family over the years. Her life was a testament to the idea that family is not only defined by blood, but by love, loyalty, and shared memories.

Karin will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
