Cut Back the Vine (writing / poetry)

“I am burdened as I pass through the beautiful scenery of creation
The intricate colors, textures, and sounds of the living
Intertwined and riddled with disease and decay”

I don’t usually like to wear my heart on my sleeve on social media. So that’s why I’ll direct you to my website where you can read the full writing 😉

Foods Alive is a company that has been on my radar for a few years now. I’ve recently affiliated myself with them, and will endorse their products because they’re a trust-worthy brand that offers uncompromising, high-quality food. If you’re looking for bulk superfoods, high-quality salad dressings, or cold-pressed oils, this is a solid company to consider. Use discount code “practicegoodhealth” to put some food on my table as well 😉

Dune Shacks Trail

Last week I finally this famous trail on the Cape. Gotta say it’s a new favorite for a slow, stability training kinda run.

Deeper Into the Hollow
The cold wind love bites my face. I blink hard to clear my vision, as I trust The Lord’s guidance and my own intuition to land each stride. The soft greens and crackling browns glide underneath as I gaze deeper into the hollow. An object shines and pulls itself into my hand. Parts are worn, others are sharp. Mostly translucent, it reminds me of myself. I accept it into my pocket and continue the descent. As the path divides, I pretend to choose my way. From above, I admire a clearing. I pose still in its center and listen. I open my eyes and I am wild. Like a hunter, I scan the crater. This time I choose my path lined with moss. Each step satisfying until gun shots turn me away.

I’ve gotten back into eating salads. Sometimes twice a day. I feel so much better. Most of these ingredients were locally grown (minus the tofu).

Locally sourced food is better. It tastes better, it’s more fresh, it’s likely more nutritious. Plus, farmers in our communities should have our support (even if they can’t afford to sell their produce at a wholesale price).

I’m going to challenge myself this summer to eat *mostly* (>50%) locally grown food.

Let me know if you want to join me in this, and if there’s anyway I can help you with recipe ideas.
