Grab a set of weights and set your timer for 20 seconds work and 10 seconds rest for 8 rounds. Weight and pace should be enough that you are just barely able to finish at the end.

How would you act if you no longer believed your story?

The story that says you’re too old.
Too far behind.
Not disciplined enough.
Not strong enough.
Not capable of change.

Many of us move through life carrying narratives that were built from past experiences, failures, fears, or the opinions of others. They’ve been with us so long we’ve stopped questioning them and just accepted that’s who we are.

But what if the story isn’t true anymore?

What if you stopped identifying with the version of yourself that struggled, quit, stayed small, or doubted your worth?

Would you finally sign up for the class?
Lift the weight?
Speak up?
Rest without guilt?
Take care of yourself consistently?
Believe you’re worthy of feeling good again?

Your life can change the moment you stop treating old thoughts like permanent truths.

So I’ll ask again:

I love hanging around, literally! Dead hangs are an almost daily routine for me. Among so many other benefits I credit them for keeping my shoulders healthy and strong.

Want a simple exercise with major benefits? This is it.

Hanging from a bar helps:
• Improve grip strength
• Build shoulder stability and mobility
• Decompress the spine after long hours of sitting
• Strengthen the hands, wrists, and forearms
• Engage the core naturally
• Support posture and upper body strength
• Improve shoulder resilience as we age

And you don’t have to start by fully hanging your bodyweight. I certainly didn’t!

Start with supported dead hangs:
Stand under the bar with your hands overhead and keep your toes lightly on the ground or on a box for support. Use your legs as much as needed while gradually allowing more weight into your upper body over time.

Start with:
• 10–20 seconds
• 2–4 rounds
• Relax your shoulders away from your ears
• Breathe steadily

Over time, your grip, shoulders, and confidence will improve! I can hang for an easy minute now and these helped me start doing pull ups.

Sometimes the most beneficial movements are also the most basic!

Some seasons feel like sailing straight into the storm.

It’s not smooth. It’s not easy. And it definitely isn’t the plan you had in mind.

But progress isn’t achieved by avoiding the storms.
Growth comes from learning how to navigate through them.

You adjust your sails.
You stay steady.
You keep moving forward, even if progress feels slow.
