I went to therapy for years. Group sessions. Individual sessions. All of it.
We talked about PTSD. We talked about anxiety. We talked about coping skills.
What we never talked about was what moving from West Africa to Wisconsin as a kid, and then to combat, actually did to my nervous system.
The performing. The grief you can't name. The feeling that part of you never fully arrived.
My new video is for any immigrant, adoptee, or culturally displaced person who has tried therapy and still felt like something was being missed. Because something was.

Three mechanisms. Three resets. Real nervous system science — not coping skills dressed up in clinical language.

That F-15 colonel survived 36 hours in enemy territory using SERE training. His nervous system ran a survival protocol that kept him alive. Your nervous system is running the same protocol right now, except your war ended years ago. Nobody trained you to shut it off. https://youtu.be/EieILPfZXzU

I break down.

🧠 Neuroception — why your brain scans every room before you sit down.

⚡ The Vagal Brake — why your body shuts down digestion, immune function, and social engagement under threat.

🔥 Cortisol flooding—why you can't focus, can't remember, can't decide.

🗣️ Language shutdown—why do you say "I'm fine" when you are not?.

👉 And I give you the same 3 tools the colonel had:

1. Threat Scan Reset

2. Double-Tap Exhale

3. Battle Buddy Protocol

"You can grieve something that improved your life. Improvement does not cancel loss."
I said this in my latest video, and I wanted to bring it here because I know so many of us feel guilty for struggling. We think, "I should be grateful. I made it. Why am I so tired?"
Here is the truth: When you can't name a loss, your body names it for you.
That exhaustion you feel isn't just "hard work." It's the sheer calorie cost of your brain constantly running new software in a new environment. You aren't broken—you're just tired from years of performing without a backstage pass.
If this resonates with you, or if you know a friend who has been "strong" for too long, send this to them. You don't have to carry the weight of displacement alone.
Watch the full breakdown on "The Immigrant Trap" here:

You’ve been told that feeling "in-between" cultures is just part of the immigrant experience. But if you constantly feel like you're performing, exhausted, o...

Identity confusion after immigration isn't a sign that something is wrong with you.
As a licensed therapist (LMSW) and immigrant from Liberia, I see this constantly in my practice: people who feel like they don't belong anywhere — not in their adopted country, and not back home.
This video breaks down:

Why this feeling is your nervous system adapting, not a personal flaw
How immigration disrupts the feedback loop that builds identity
Why this shows up as anxiety, emotional numbness, and exhaustion
What actually helps when you're carrying this invisible grief

If this resonates with you — or someone you know — I hope this brings clarity. https://youtu.be/c6uCygWnnk0

If you've ever felt like you don't fully belong anywhere—not in the country you moved to, and not even back home—you're not imagining it.Identity confusion a...
