Kettle corn fam, would you take time tomorrow (Tuesday) morning to grab a flag and join us in lining the roads, supporting the family and honoring the life and sacrifice of local hero Sgt. Michael Verardo? The funeral procession route is in the UCSO post below, from Indian Trail to Weddington Methodist Church.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and those he served alongside.💔🇺🇸

Honoring the Life and Service of Sgt. Michael Verardo

On Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., family, friends, and the community will gather at Weddington Methodist Church to honor the life, sacrifice, and legacy of Sgt. Michael Verardo.

At approximately 9:00 a.m., Sheriff Eddie Cathey and members of the Union County Sheriff’s Office will proudly lead the es**rt as Sgt. Verardo is brought from Heritage Funeral Home in Indian Trail to the church. The procession route is as follows:

• Depart Heritage Funeral Home (Indian Trail) at approximately 9:00 am and turn right onto Old Monroe Road
• Left onto Waxhaw–Indian Trail Road
• Continue to NC 84 (Weddington Road)
• Right onto NC 84, continuing straight into the parking lot of Weddington Methodist Church

Those who wish to show their support are encouraged to line the procession route as a visible sign of love, gratitude, and respect for Sgt. Verardo, his family, and his brothers and sisters in the Armed Forces.

Motorists traveling in the Indian Trail, Wesley Chapel, and Weddington areas should be mindful that traffic may be briefly delayed or redirected during the procession as our community pauses to honor this American hero.

Sgt. Verardo’s courage, sacrifice, and devotion will never be forgotten, and his family will carry forward his legacy with the support of the community he served and defended.
