We offer unique vinyasa flow as well as deep stretch, yoga basics, gentle, Yin, Ashtanga and Restorative. Kris Knox, 200hr ERYT, YACEP created Waxhaw Yoga to bring the benefits of yoga to people who never would have thought they'd step into a yoga studio. A safe, welcoming space for all people to come to move the body and quiet the mind. Whether you have an established practice or haven't ever tried yoga, this is the place for you. During yoga asana, great emphasis is placed on the spine. It is said that the spine is like the trunk of the tree. Without the trunk the tree has no support, no strength, no conduit for the supply of nutrients.

It has been observed that when the spine is compressed, anxiety tends to be high and energy is low. In contrast, when the spine is erect and extended there is more sense of contentment and positivity.

We are only as young as our spine is flexible.

The yoga asana, postures, were originally created to get the kinks out of the body and to keep the body healthy, in order for the practioners to be able to sit longer in meditation.

It is difficult to quiet the mind for prayer or meditation if you just sit down and try to become still, however, after a 60 minute session of intentional movement and breathing, it becomes much easier to then sit and observe our inner environment.

Move the body. Quiet the mind.
