There are changes afoot and making room for those changes is necessary.

Have you wanted to make changes and found yourself stuck?

Try creating same physical space.
Clear out a drawer, closet or cabinet.

Try moving your body or tending to some body treatment. Even a long shower with a loofah can help! (Hair cut not a requirement)

Spend some time feeling good. This can be as simple as a mediation, massage, walk in nature or time with friends laughing.

Stay tuned for more details of the transition that’s happening here and if you’re ready for change and want some support, let’s talk!

We helped a family empty a home.

The family member lived alone and had passed away.

The house was full of a well lived and enjoyed life.

Once we did the first pass through (filling dumpsters, creating collections, having a good first clean) the home contents were ready for the estate sale company.

Looking for a beautiful piece of furniture, a great piece of decor? Check out this sale-some items have already sold!!

And thank you Jennifer, Raymond and your team for picking up the torch when we had completed our mission.

We all have them, bits and baubles.

The key is WHERE are they? Here is a dish to hold the smaller bits.

We have drawers and cabinets for larger groups.

Stash wisely.
Be creative! There’s fun in using different bins, folders and containers.

Yes. Thats my sock.

It’s been sweat soaked, debris coated and practically jumped into the machine in its own.

Have you gone through the things in your garage?

I highly recommend it.

Today we filled the back of a pick up truck from a small 2 car garage.

Yes. There are still a lot of things in the garage.

It’s now filled with items the family uses, needs and wants.

There is a small area with a gymnasium mat for flips.
The toy bins and plastic doll houses are floor level for them to grab and put away too.

Things are labeled.

They have some ideas for shelving, bike storage and hunting gear.

The dad now feels the space and focus to work in the tool department. With a new big red tool box with drawers he wants to sift through and eliminate some items. (He wanted to do the tools on his own)

It was a highly productive morning.

Maybe for yourself, choose a day that isn’t 100* to dig in??

Happy clients make it worth it.

The sock is on the way to get an extended spa treatment. 😂🧦🫧

These bags. Let me tell you about them.

The call came in to help a sweet family.

They lived out of state.
They were clearing out a home of the Aunt who had passed away. It would be sold. An estate sale, auction maybe donations?? Definitely needed cleaning and trash removed.

The aunt had passed away on the heals of another family member who had passed. The emotions were strong

They were managing this project from another state-a plane ride away.

Which brings me back to these bags.

The family worked with us the first day.
We had Trash & Stash Junk Removal onsite. (They did an amazing job!)
We had my team onsite. We had the family onsite. We had an army working.

One of my team sat with the sweet woman who was leading the circus.
They sorted, folded and talked about all these tee shirts the Aunt had accumulated over the many years of travel. These and this were part of the healing.

After going back another day (or three) to clear another dumpster (we had already filled a construction sized one to overflowing) worth of debris, slightly sorting the items for the estate sale to follow and getting some cleaning done…..I realized these bags were not were I had seen them last.

My heart sank.

I was DEVASTATED. Honoring the family, the aunt’s legacy is the drive for this project. I didn’t sleep for two nights waiting to connect with the client to share the news. (My husband said I was awful to live with those days~sorry babe. Thanks for still loving the cranky me)

I apologized PROFUSELY to the client as I had failed a part of this project.
I offered to wave my fee for the day as I felt I had not done my job.

And my client?
She was incredibly gracious. Releasing me of all the angst I had been holding.
Insisting to pay me.
Calling me an Angel.

Yes, I cried.
Yes, I was relived.
Yes, I still held this awful feeling that these bags had been caught up in the frenzy of multiple vendors pulling things, moving things, taking things, rearranging things. I don’t make these mistakes on a project.

While it was a full house, it was a lot.
I understand this cognitively. Yet-I’m passionate about doing a great job, delivering the promised and communicated message.

Turns out…..we DID do a great job.

Client messaged me this morning to show me these bags that I had been walking around for days….

These are the tees!!!

My team and I had discussed the potential of them getting confused with trash. They set them in another area and labeled them. I forgot.

If I say the relief I felt was deep and real….it was more than that.

I love when we do what we say and then FORGET we did it!

Passion thrives at The Clutter Consultant

And yes, I was fully prepared to go to the
Donations center and comb through whatever I needed to to reclaim these tees!!!

The quilt that they plan to create? It may or may not happen. They have the tees to be able to if they choose to.

Remember these?

Childhood memories for some.

Draping handfuls of the sparkling strings over the scented evergreen of a Christmas tree.

Today it was oooooo!!! Do the 20 something’s here know what this is?!?

There were a couple of packages of them.

A fun find in a very hot attic today.

Do you have Christmas memories of this ?? What did you call it?

((We didn’t call it icicles.))

Super fun find.

No phone just the box.

Started us on a conversation about keeping a good box. We all
Seem to do it.

Earlier this month we did an attic that was filled with boxes that someone kept. (Those were also filled with dust and bugs-they ended up being trashed)

Do you hold onto old boxes?

How many do you have?

How much does our stuff REALLY cost?

This week we are in a storage unit.

It’s the biggest unit available at this location and when we opened the door-full top to bottom, left to right and front to back.

It’s a lot. A lifetime of a family. Raising kids, careers, extended family and interests.

We pulled out 80% of what was placed in there last year post move.

Most of it has been untouched since it went in.

We sorted, hired a removal company who moved the heavy stuff, removed the donations and trash and helped us renegotiate some of what was left.

There is cost with all that. The three trucks we filled, the man power and then the organizer costs.

Now, let’s look at the other costs.
The moving it into the storage unit.
The storage fees
The pack up
The storing it in the home for years (in some cases) and this number is more then $10 a sq ft to store in the home
The original investment to buy it

Now….the costs of time
There was investment of time to make the money to get it, to choose it, bring it home, maintain it, fill it, move it in the home, and when a move is considered-then to find someone who will move it with care and again to clean, relocate, fill, rearrange the decor or the item.

Maybe consider later in life what you are leaving behind for someone else to manage.

It’s a lot.

When considering buying anything-there are more costs than just the item. Ask if that item is worth the full investment….

When clients get the homework done…..

The pile is ongoing. It’s a lifetime (or feels like a lifetime) of taxes, documents, thoughts, dreams and so much more.

And it’s all OLD NEWS.

This client has purged, sifted and sweat to produce this work of perfection (in my eyes) to create this growing stack of shreds -it doesn’t include the recycling and trash also created.

Imagine all this weight removed from your care.

You felt that sigh of relief like I did?

Then she tackled the books.
We did a first purge together.
She kept her word and did a second sweep. Look at that weight of no longer relevant or uplifting titles.
She has moved to new titles.

I’m cheering her on regularly as she lets go of a bit more each week.

She’s making room for new things, a new life or part of a new life and it’s exhilarating!

Having a front row seat to this show is breathtaking.

Today let go of a small bag-maybe a big bag -of things you no longer use or feel great about and see what it does for you.

Then share here-we want to cheer you on!

This is the view.

Moving into a new home is stressful.

There is so much to do.

Vendors to do some work

Boxes to unpack

Work didn’t stop

Kids need care

The boxes are somehow multiplying behind your back

And the house is different from the last house so where does all this go??

It’s important to line up help.
Maybe just a babysitter so you can dig into those boxes

Maybe a friend to come in and help (and bring some laughter too)

Maybe hire a coordinator to help knock out some chaos before you embark on the journey.

This week there were calls from someone moving to the area looking to see what it looked like having help getting settled

There is an unpack for a sweet young family moving to the country (see video)

There is an out of state family looking to get a family members home ready for sale

And there is a gentleman preparing to leave the home he raised his kids in and said goodbye to his first love in.

This process can be stressful and hard or it can be less stressed, fun and the hard edges are softened.

It’s all in the preparation.

Need help? We have been coordinating parts to the whole move since 2011.
Yes, some clients leave us with the key and go on vacation.

Happy to have a call and see if we are a fit to work together.

It’s a process.

Thats it. Create a why and you’re golden.

My Tidy Tribe declutter support group is doing the work.

This week we discussed mindsets around our stuff.

They made bold decisions and accountability statements.

For some it’s full a bag a day.

For others it’s address a space

For others, the call is the time to get it done.

How ever it works for you, make it a HABIT to remove things daily (or almost daily) to prevent the overflow.

Yes, less is more. Yes, you can live HAPPIEST with less stuff.

Just today, release a few things and see how you feel.

This closet is a master closet.

Coaching helped this homeowner sort and remove PILES of no longer worn clothes.

Making some hard decisions of what to keep and what to let go of.

She did this on her own with coaching, some accountability and riling up her sleeves.

Why is this noteworthy?

It was HARD. It was EMOTIONAL.

It is freeing!!

“Love it! I can actually see what I have.”

Now that is a win for us all.
