Parent Alert: What to Know About Kratom and Hidden Apps
Parents, two trends are raising concern for schools across Georgia:
1) Kratom / “Feel Free” Drink – Sold legally at gas stations and v**e shops, this bottled drink resembles an energy shot but is addictive and unsafe. Teens may experiment with it, thinking it’s harmless or “natural.” In reality, it carries serious health risks and withdrawal symptoms.
2) Hidden Apps – Apps like Keep Safe and Vaulty allow users to hide photos, videos, or messages behind innocent-looking icons such as a calculator. Teens may use them to conceal activity from parents.
What you can do:
*Talk openly with your child about these products and apps.
*Check your child’s devices for unfamiliar “calculator” or vault-style apps.
*Remind your child that just because something is legal or looks harmless doesn’t mean it’s safe.
*Encourage them to come to you or another trusted adult with questions.
Our goal is to keep you informed so you can help guide safe and healthy choices at home.
