We are told spring weather will be making its way to Michigan at some point 🙃 Next week while the kids are off school, stop into Wayland EMS 830-430 and grab a helmet for your little ones (or big ones) to keep them safe this year!!! Our thoughts and prayers to the DeWitt family in the passing of Don DeWitt. Don was the 3rd GM for Wayland EMS and guided us through the years of October 18,1979 to Octobert 5,1988. There is no obiturary posted by family, but they sent us this letter to pass along

Obituary for Donald Dale DeWitt
Donald Dale DeWitt, 87, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 15th, 2026, surrounded by his family. Don lived a life marked by kindness, generosity, and an unwavering love for people. His presence had a way of making others feel seen, welcomed, and valued.
Don is survived by his devoted wife, Jan, siblings, Calvin and Marianne, and his children Mike, Tom, Jeff, Misty, Eddie, and Christy. He was a proud grandfather to Cher-Wen, Erin, Chad, Su-Hwei, Morgan, Matthew, and Trevor, each of whom brought him immense joy. His family was the heart of his world, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Those who knew Don will remember his open-hearted nature and his ability to connect with anyone he met. He believed deeply in treating others with respect and compassion, and he lived those values every day. His warmth, humor, and steady presence touched countless lives.
Don’s legacy lives on in the family he loved, the friendships he nurtured, and the many people who were better for having known him.

We would like to thank for the grant for $2500.00! This grant money will be used to purchase bike helmets that we will give out free to local children. Stay tuned for more info when we get the helmets and set up times for passing them out!

Did you know Wayland is an AHA CPR training center? What that means is we have many instructors from the West Michigan area that train with us and then teach out in the community. Today was one of our Bi-Annual required training sessions to make sure everyone is up to date! Thank you for braving the cold!

Last night we had our annual Christmas Party. We forgot to take pictures as were enjoying a night of laughter and fellowship with family. During this time we hand out gifts to the little children, give crew members ‘hearts’ to remind them of the good they do in the community AND we award our EMT and MFR of the year. This year we recognized Corey Ribble from Orangeville as our MFR and Karreena Wooten as our EMT of Year. Both were nominated by their peers for their service and outward showing the commitment to Wayland EMS.
