With a history that spans over 75 years, dedicated leadership has been the hallmark of this Wayland funeral home’s legacy. The Cook family’s commitment to serving its local communities will carry on this tradition as it has done since 1957 in its Grandville, Byron Center, Jenison and Lake Odessa chapels. Ron Cook, along with his wife Johanne, began Cook Funeral Home with an emphasis on community relationships and service. With succession of ownership being passed through the generations in the Cook family, son Fred and his son Ron II will work alongside Mr. Kubiak and staff to continue providing excellent care to grieving families. First opened by Glenn Archer in 1936, the Wayland funeral home was located in the former Carner homestead on Main Street. Archer was owner until selling to George Hampel in 1959. Larry Kubiak worked for Mr. Hampel for six years beginning in 1980 then he purchased the business in 1986. The Wayland Funeral Chapel is now located at 312 N. Kubiak built the funeral home in Dorr, MI in 1997, on the former Wagner family homestead on 18th Street. The purchase and name change to Kubiak-Cook Funeral Services took place in the fall of 2012.
