*Formula is life saving medicine when desired by family or necessary when human milk is unavailable.

The research has been clear for years that exposure to formula in the first few days changes the gut and has potential consequences. Babies deserve care based on evidence and not to benefit the billion dollar formula industry.

Research has shown that it is best to avoid supplementation of cow’s milk formula in order to prevent cow’s milk allergy.

It is important to ask yourself who benefits when something is being sold to you. And super important to note...everyone is tired! Babies are a lot of work!

Formula milk marketing exploits parental anxieties about common infant behaviours such as fussiness or poor sleep.

Premium branding is paraded as having “premium benefits”, when in fact the only difference is the price.

Claims made by the formula milk industry about their products are often misleading, scientifically unsubstantiated & violate the International Code of Marketing of Breast-milk Substitutes.

WHO is calling on governments to end exploitative marketing and protect babies’ health.

I am happy to see this being looked into. My biggest take away is that if you have a suspect supply issue your resources are best spent hiring an IBCLC to support good breastfeeding management and sort through supplements together!
