A heartfelt thank you to our amazing First responders — our EMTs, firefighters, and police officers. Your courage, compassion, and dedication touch lives in ways words can hardly express. You rush toward danger, bring comfort in chaos, and give so much of yourselves to protect and serve. We are deeply grateful for your selflessness and the heart you bring to our community every day.

🚨 Joint Training Drill in Wayne 🚨
This week, members of the Wayne First Aid Squad participated in a multi-agency training exercise alongside Wayne Police, Wayne Fire, and St. Joseph’s Hospital staff.

The scenario simulated a fire and explosion within the hospital’s hyperbaric chamber, requiring coordinated efforts in scene safety, patient triage, and large-scale evacuation procedures. This hands-on training provided an invaluable opportunity for all agencies to work together in a realistic, high-stress environment, enhancing our ability to respond efficiently and safely should such an incident ever occur.

Multi-agency drills like this are crucial for strengthening communication, coordination, and preparedness across all responding departments. We’re grateful to our partners for their teamwork and commitment to community safety.

🚑 🚁 🚨
Wayne Memorial First Aid Squad members took part in an helicopter medevac lecture and demonstration featuring a landing from NorthSTAR (JEMSTAR – University Hospital).

Our members learned about aeromedical operations, landing zone safety, and patient transfer protocols - valuable skills that help us work seamlessly with flight crews during critical emergencies if they ever arise.

A huge thank you to the NorthSTAR flight team for sharing their expertise and supporting EMS education right here in Wayne! 👏

On Sunday, our dedicated members selflessly donated their time to support Wayne Day, showcasing their expertise at the ambulances, booth, and extrication demo. With multiple ambulances and equipment on site, they were well-equipped to respond to any emergencies that may have arisen. At the booth, visitors received information about our life-changing squad, including details on how to join, and enjoyed games, tattoos, and candy. People were also invited to try out the CPR dummy, gaining hands-on experience that could one day save a life. Meanwhile, our ambulance crews had a busy day responding to several calls, both at Wayne Day and around town. All our squad members are required to take yearly extrication classes, because you never know when you'll need to bust out your inner superhero. Below are some pictures of the last two days… very warm days, like we're-talking-sunburn warm. Here are some pictures to show what we can do to gain access to our patients if needed. Also sometimes we need a little break and lay down, because even superheroes need a nap, of course that would never happen on a real call!!

Come join our squad… be a superhero for your community….

Never Forget – 9.11.01

Today we pause to honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the bravery of all those who responded.

Wayne Township Memorial First Aid Squad answered the call during the recovery efforts at Ground Zero. Our EMTs stood with fellow first responders—united in purpose, courage, and compassion.

The painting shown here was donated to our squad in remembrance of that day. It captures the spirit of service, sacrifice, and solidarity that carried us through those dark hours and continues to guide us today.

We remember those from Wayne who were lost, along with all the innocent lives taken, and the EMTs and first responders who risked everything. We also honor those who continue to bear the lasting scars of that day.

“Service to the living, in memory of the dead.”

We will never forget.
