ATTN AETNA MEMBERS: As of 4/1, Aetna has decreased the reimbursement rate of "mid-level practitioners"; Dietitians, Respiratory Therapists, Massage Therapists, Audiologists, etc. by 25%! They are now significantly the lowest paying insurance company I am a provider with, which is ironic in times of crazy inflation and increased costs associated with everything to manage a business. I have been in network with them for 10+ years and have never gotten a pay increase. And now they are decreasing it so much that many RDs feel it is not worth it to stay in network. I feel dedicated to providing services to help improve the health of all my clients, so I plan to continue to stay in network with the hope that this is just a temporary pay cut. However, I know that by doing this, Aetna is losing a lot of other providers.
So, I am asking you to please reach out to your company's HR team or contact Aetna directly to advocate for our services. Dietitians, especially, are serving to help reduce healthcare costs by preventing/managing diabetes, heart disease, obesity, etc. Clearly nutrition counseling is not the burden of the healthcare system, but I think rather, could help lower healthcare costs if companies just invested more in dietitians and preventative health. Thank you for your help!
