Mrs. Ethel H. Jones, 91, a native of Alabama and a resident of Bay Springs, MS passed from this life Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, MS. She was born in Washington County, AL on Friday, January 18, 1935, to the late William Calvin Hennis, Sr. and Elizabeth Patrick Hennis. She was a member of Bay Springs Baptist Church. She retired as a School Teacher for the Jasper County Public School System.

Mrs. Jones is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Orville Guyton Jones; parents, William Calvin Hennis, Sr. and Elizabeth Patrick Hennis; three brothers, Floyd W. Hennis, Bernie Hennis, and William C. "Bill" Hennis, Jr.; three sisters, Bernice H. Wells, Mary Leigh Phillips, and Mattie V. Bradley. She is survived by her son, Tim Jones; friend, Terry Snyder, both of New Orleans, LA; a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Visitation for Mrs. Jones will be held from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Friday, April 10, 2026, at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS 39367. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, April 10, 2026, at Freeman Funeral Home in Waynesboro, MS with Rev. Ed King officiating. Interment will be in County Line Cemetery in State Line, MS. Pallbearers are Michael Wells, Darrell Hennis, Rault Edmonds, Jason Sims, Darren Sims, and Gary Dean.

Maley Elizabeth Ross

Ms. Maley Elizabeth Ross, 27, of Ocean Springs, MS passed away into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. She was born in Waynesboro, MS on Wednesday, February 10, 1999, to David Benson Ross and Crystal Laura Walley. Maley graduated from Thomasville High School in 2017. She later earned an associate’s degree from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and successfully passed her NCLEX examination in May 2024, becoming a registered nurse. Though her life on this earth was short and often troubled, Maley was a gifted and prolific writer. She left behind journals filled with beautiful accounts of her personal relationship with her Savior, Jesus Christ. Her family finds deep comfort knowing that she is now fully healed, whole, and forever at peace in the presence of the Lord.

Maley is preceded in death by her grandfather, David B. Ross, Jr. She is survived by her loving mother, Crystal Walley; her father and stepmother, Benson and Shannan Ross and her three sisters, Ella Katherine, Savanna, and Summer. She is also survived by her grandparents, Cheryl and Andrew Balius, and Sadie Ross; her aunts, Chelsea Bond, Karen Hare (Chris), and Brooke Richardson (Trevor); and her first cousins, Kiefer Waller, Lauren Schneider, Ross Hare, Tate Watson, Tripp Richardson, and Nate Richardson.

Visitation for Maley will be held from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS 39367. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Freeman Funeral Home in Waynesboro, MS with Rev. Paul Harris and Rev. Matt Olson officiating. Interment will be in Serenity Gardens Cemetery in Waynesboro, MS. In the midst of our sorrow, the family rejoices that Maley’s journey has brought her home. Her faith, her writings, and the love she shared will continue to touch and inspire all who knew her. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Home of Grace in Gautier, MS.
