🌟 Ruth Gray’s Celebration of Life 🌟

After the passing of our beloved resident Ruth, the “sunglasses queen,” her family and our activities team came together to honor her in a way she would’ve loved. Staff and residents wore sunglasses, sang some of her favorite songs, and shared cherished stories about Ruth. She touched so many lives and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. 💙🕶️

✨🌟 Rehab Week Spotlight: Gillian Pietrowski, SLP 🌟✨

For National Rehab Week, we’re highlighting another amazing member of our rehab team: Gillian Pietrowski, SLP!

Gillian was inspired to work in rehab after seeing the positive impact of speech therapy when her grandmother had a stroke. She earned her Master of Science in Communication Science and Disorders from Indiana University of PA and has been part of our team for 1 year and 2 months.

Her favorite part of the job? "Making connections with residents, learning about their lives, experiences, and goals, and helping them understand the speech, language, cognition, swallowing, and voice pieces of their puzzle. Seeing long-term residents every day is just as special—I’m grateful to learn from and about them each session."

Outside of work, Gillian enjoys spending time with family and friends, listening to music, going for walks in the park, coffee shop visits, watching funny shows or movies, and playing trivia.

Thank you, Gillian, for helping our residents reach their goals and making rehab a meaningful experience every day!

✨🌟 Rehab Week Spotlight: Cory Donahue, COTA 🌟✨

As we continue celebrating National Rehab Week at Waynesburg Nursing & Rehab, today we’re highlighting Cory Donahue, COTA!

Cory has been part of our rehab team for 8 years. When asked what inspired him to work in rehab, Cory shared, "I wanted to help others."

His favorite part of working with residents is simple but meaningful: making them happy. That same motivation is what drives him each day—bringing smiles and positivity to those he serves.

We’re grateful for Cory’s dedication to helping residents feel encouraged and cared for every day.

✨🌟 Rehab Week Spotlight: Cassie Edgreen, MS, OTR/L 🌟✨

Continuing our celebration of National Rehab Week at Waynesburg Nursing & Rehab, we’re shining a light on Cassie Edgreen, our Director of Rehab!

Cassie has been with our team for 8 years, helping residents achieve their goals and regain independence. When asked what inspires her in her work, she shared, "I was inspired to work in therapy due to the ability to help individuals meet their goals and get back to a version of themselves that they didn't think was possible."

A memorable success story for Cassie was helping a gentleman who was severely debilitated during COVID. He didn’t think he’d ever go home—but through hard work, he was able to leave with a walker, get into his car, and return to his family. Cassie was there to share in his tears of joy.

Outside of work, Cassie enjoys camping with her family and caring for her farm, where she raises beef cattle, sheep, and two protective donkeys.

Recently, Cassie was selected to join our Administrator in Training (AIT) Program, taking the next step in her professional growth—just one more reason we’re so proud to have her on our team!

✨🌟 Rehab Week Spotlight: Jayce Riley, DPT 🌟✨

We’re kicking off National Rehab Week at Waynesburg Nursing & Rehab by highlighting some of the amazing members of our rehab team—starting with Jayce Riley!

September marks Jayce’s one-year anniversary with us, and he brings energy, dedication, and creativity to every session. When asked what motivates him to come to work each day, Jayce said, "Working with a great therapy team along with nurses who care and value each of our residents."

Jayce makes rehab fun and engaging by listening to residents’ interests—turning exercises into games or sports-like activities that match what they love. Outside of work, you’ll often find him golfing or playing pickleball with friends and family.

Thank you, Jayce, for helping our residents move, grow, and thrive every day!

🎉 Congratulations to Susan Knisely on her successful short-term rehab stay! 🎉

Susan came to Waynesburg Nursing & Rehab from a local hospital after a fall that resulted in a hip fracture. With the support of our dedicated therapy team, she worked hard throughout her recovery. Her surgical wound has healed, she has met all of her goals, and she is now ready for the next chapter.

Congratulations, Susan! 🌟 We wish you continued health, happiness, and many wonderful days ahead! Thank you for allowing us to be part of your recovery journey.

Waynesburg Nursing & Rehab is excited to host a monthly basket raffle, with all proceeds supporting our staff retention committee, who plan fun activities and events for our amazing team!

🎉 Congratulations to Thelma Jackman! 🎉

We are thrilled to celebrate Thelma’s successful short-term rehab stay at Waynesburg Nursing & Rehab! After a hospital stay for cardiac complications and weakness, Thelma came to us determined to regain her strength. With the support and encouragement of our nursing and therapy teams, she met all of her goals and is now ready to return home.

Congratulations, Thelma! We wish you nothing but the best and thank you for letting us be part of your recovery journey. 🌟
