Bungee stepovers and behind-the-back pulls can be powerful exercises for people living with Parkinson’s!

These exercises build the skills needed for smoother, safer dressing—one of those everyday tasks that can become frustrating with bradykinesia (slowness), rigidity, freezing, tremor, or balance challenges.

👖 Bungee stepovers train dynamic balance, stepping accuracy, and quick reactive adjustments—think stepping into pants or steadying yourself while pulling them up without losing your footing. The resistance challenges postural stability and the visual cue can help reduce freezing. The exercise can be easily progressed by requiring more pull/ tighter bungee for a bigger step.

👔 Behind-the-back bungee pulls target shoulder mobility, and upper back strength—crucial for reaching behind to pull on a shirt, tuck in clothes, fasten a bra, or manage sleeves . ⭐️ Bonus, it requires big, upright posture to do this exercise successfully, a nice contrast to the flexed position in part 1.

Together, they boost coordination, range of motion, and confidence so dressing feels less like a battle. Small, consistent practice can make a big impact on daily routines.

Tag a friend, therapist or exercise professional who could benefit!

A journey with Parkinson’s:
Two years of consistent, personalized, progressive exercise.

Two years of determination, even on the hard days.

Two years of proving that progress is absolutely possible, even in the face of a neurodegenerative disease.

Two years in, Danny continues to move stronger, faster and more powerful than the years before.

Movement is an incredible medicine. Personalized, progressive movement is even more potent.

👏👏👏to Danny. Your effort and determination are an inspiration.
