McCracken Rest Home is a quaint and caring assisted living community offering a variety of round-the-clock care and service options. Located on a quiet street just 1-mile from downtown Waynesville, NC, our residents enjoy a wonderful and picturesque, horse-farm setting, nestled within the peaceful atmosphere of the friendly Great Smokey Mountains community. Great restaurants, museums, galleries and various professional services are available nearby. At McCracken Rest Home we value the individual interests of our residents, and feel it is important to offer each resident the opportunity to continue to find happiness and growth. We strive to provide an environment that fosters our residents' interests, and respects their individuality. Our mission is to provide the highest standard of care possible for our residents while maintaining a high quality of life, independence and self-esteem. Our nurturing staff works closely with outside health professionals to meet the specific needs of each resident and we encourage family and friends to visit our residents at any time. McCracken Rest Home was founded and built by William C. McCracken in 1951. On a tip from a relative and employee of Haywood County Hospital, of the future need for senior housing, "Crawford" began building the structure almost immediately. We are one of the oldest continuously operated adult care facilities in Haywood County. McCracken Rest Home is an assisted living community with many care plans to satisfy a wide range of needs. A personal care plan is developed to meet each of the residents' physical, social and psychosocial needs. Representatives from Nursing, Activities and Dietary departments work closely with the resident's primary care physician and our facility Administrator to develop this plan.
