Although we are mourning the loss of our precious angel, Miss Charlee Mae Glatch of Deephaven — our certified, retired therapy dog who brought joy and comfort to so many at the VA, Children’s, Park Nicollet, and Ridgeview — our hearts are full of gratitude for the love she gave us.
We tried every type of therapy available for Miss Charlee Mae — veterinary care, medications, biofeedback, neurology, chiropractic — everything we could to help her feel better. Unfortunately, she just wasn’t improving.
This morning, when she could no longer walk on her own, we made the heartbreaking decision to let her go peacefully while she still had some joy and dignity left. We knew in our hearts that Charlee’s greatest wish was always to make us happy, and we didn’t want her to feel she was failing us because of her condition. We loved her too much to let her keep struggling — and we know she understood that.
Run free, sweet Charlee Mae. 💕
We find peace knowing she went gently, surrounded by her mom and dad, wrapped in all the love we could give her to last a lifetime. She touched countless hearts and made so many people smile. She will live on in our hearts forever and ever.
While we grieve, we’re also comforted knowing she’s no longer suffering — and that love has a way of continuing on. Today, we put a deposit down on a new silver Lab puppy, due December 20th! If a silver female is born, we’ll have first pick. The puppy’s mom is actually in labor today — and it’s with the breeder I’ve been hoping for all along: Silver Viking Labs.
Please share your favorite name ideas for a new silver Lab girl — she’ll have big paws to fill, but she’ll be so loved already. 💗🐾
