🗺️ I’m back after an EPIC family trip to Yellowstone! We explored most of the major sites, and I would definitely recommend staying in the park if possible. I’m also going to try and compile a reel of all the bubbling/boiling/churning/trickling noises as well as one dedicated to my favorite part which was the impractically wooly and slow bison.

⭐️ TUMMY TUCK BEFORE and AFTER ⭐️

This patient is 7 months out from an abdominoplasty with muscle repair and liposuction of the flank/love handle areas. In total, we removed 3 1/2 pounds of tissue. As you can see, the scars that are located from hip to hip and around her bellybutton hide very well. One of the key details to a successful tummy tuck is a natural looking belly button.

Patients will often ask how far out from surgery they will be able to enjoy summer activities. In the case of a tummy tuck, activity restrictions are for 4 to 6 weeks after surgery but after that, everything is fair game!

As a general rule, a patient having surgery in the spring will be 100% presentable and ready for swimsuit season in the summer.

🌟 BREAST REDUCTION Before & After 🌟

Many patients ask if a breast reduction is also a lift. It is! A breast reduction and a breast lift often use the same incisions and a similar internal rearrangement of the tissue, but with a breast reduction, breast tissue is actually removed; with a lift, only skin is removed.

This young patient presented with headaches, neck and back pain, rashes under her breasts, as well as an inability to wear a bra due to the sensitivity of her rib cage. Many of her symptoms improved after her breast reduction. Here she is 6 months after her surgery during which I took over 3 pounds of tissue off! She also chose to have some liposuction of the side bra roll and front armpit areas.

⭐️ FACIAL FAT GRAFTING ⭐️

I have to thank this wonderful patient for allowing me to share her before and after photos.

She is three months out from fat grafting to the temples, upper cheeks and cheekbone areas. We did a small amount of fat transfer into the anterior/central cheeks, and the upper and lower lips as well.

She had previously tried filler, however this did not seem to last more than a few weeks. Some patients are fast metabolizers of filler and neurotoxin, and she was looking for more permanent result.

You can see an improvement in her upper face contour and fullness. The great thing about fat transfer is that the results are very natural and they are permanent. Of course a person will continue to age, so a fat transfer can be redone in the future if the patient chooses to undergo another procedure.

The down time for facial fat grafting is about 1-2 weeks. Most of the swelling will go away within 3 to 4 weeks and final results are visible as early as 6 weeks after the procedure.

She attended Stanford University for her undergraduate studies (1999-2003) and for medical school (2003-2007), and then completed a residency in Plastic Surgery at Washington University in St. Louis (2007-2012). She is particularly interested in reconstructive and cosmetic breast surgery, body contouring, and fat grafting. Dr. Kayan also holds an adjunct assistant faculty position at the University of Minnesota.
