Part 6 of our NAD+ series.

In this segment, Dr. Kris Wusterhausen outlines three key pathways that influence NAD+ levels—and why both depletion and overproduction need to be carefully managed.

Optimizing NAD+ isn’t about extremes. It’s about understanding the system and applying the right strategy.

Follow for more evidence-informed insights on longevity and metabolic health.

NAD+ SubQ can be a useful tool—when used strategically.
But more isn’t better. Overuse without proper guidance can lead to unwanted effects.

This isn’t something you run indefinitely. It should be:
• Guided by a trained provider
• Used with intention
• And have a clear endpoint

Smart protocols always include an exit plan.

03/26/2026

Not all NAD+ infusions are created equal.

Infusion rate plays a critical role in both tolerance and overall experience. When administered too quickly, individuals may experience discomfort such as headaches, nausea, or gastrointestinal symptoms.

Proper administration requires time, monitoring, and clinical experience.

If you’re considering NAD+ therapy, choose a provider who prioritizes protocol—not speed.

NR vs NMN—what’s the difference?

Both aim to support NAD+, but NR is a direct precursor your body uses to naturally build NAD+.

Supporting your own production = smarter, more efficient cellular energy.

Most people jump to supplements…
but NAD+ starts with lifestyle.

Sleep drives NAD+ synthesis
Fasting increases production
Morning exercise amplifies it

Master the fundamentals first.

Think of NAD+ as your cells’ battery—powering energy, repair, and performance.

In this series of videos, we’ll go through this in detail and what we can do to improve both our cell’s utilization of NAD+ and improve the NAD+ pool.

Dr. Kris delivered an outstanding lecture for practitioners, sharing his extensive clinical experience using AMPK-activating compounds to support reductions in visceral fat while carefully monitoring and preserving lean muscle mass.

He emphasized that effective metabolic intervention requires far more than focusing on weight alone. Glucose metabolism, mitochondrial function, microvascular perfusion, and broader metabolic dysfunction must all be considered when designing a truly precision-based program tailored to each patient’s physiology, goals, and long-term health trajectory.

The CALM framework centers on improving patient outcomes with longevity in mind. Dr. Kris’s approach reflects the level of strategic thinking he brings to every patient he treats. Just as importantly, he is committed to advancing the field by sharing this knowledge with other dedicated practitioners—ensuring that better strategies for metabolic health continue to spread and evolve.

Weight loss is powerful — but it shouldn’t come at the expense of bone health.

A recent study on GLP-1 medications in non-diabetic patients showed meaningful weight loss, but also greater-than-expected reductions in hip bone density. It’s one of the few studies highlighting a potential downside, and it reinforces something important: if you’re losing weight, you should be measuring what else may be changing.

At the Resurge Clinic, we use DEXA scanning to accurately assess bone density, muscle mass, total body fat, and visceral fat. This allows us to track changes over time and intervene early if needed. Monitoring matters — especially when powerful metabolic medications are involved.

It’s also important to note that the study primarily looked at women who were not on hormone replacement therapy. Estrogen and testosterone play critical roles in maintaining and building bone density. Protecting bone health isn’t just about tracking it — it’s about optimizing the hormonal environment that supports it.

If you’re using GLP-1s or considering them, make sure you’re taking a comprehensive approach to your long-term health. Weight loss is one metric. Strength, bone density, and metabolic resilience matter just as much (if not more).

Coffee and tea intake (1-2 cups a day) actually decreases dementia risk and cognitive function! That’s a good way to start the day.

Just omit the additions that make black coffee - tan coffee.

10 minutes after lunch can change your metabolism.

Dr. Kris breaks down two simple but powerful habits most people overlook:

1) Post-meal walking
A short walk after eating helps digestion, keeps your metabolic rate up, and improves how your body handles calories. No gym. No equipment. Just move.

2) Vitamin D (yes, it matters more than you think)
Even in Texas, most people cannot get enough vitamin D from sun alone. Taking it daily, with food supports:

- Insulin sensitivity
- Reduced inflammation in fat cells
- Easier fat burning
- Long-term metabolic health

As we age, insulin resistance creeps in quietly—and that’s what makes weight loss harder and health decline faster.

Simple habits. Big impact.
Your metabolism responds to what you do every day.

Not all peptides are created equal. Did you know that most peptides sold today are “research grade”—explicitly labeled not for human consumption?

In a world of “weekend experts” and mystery vials, the source of your treatment is just as important as the treatment itself. Dr. Kris Wusterhausen breaks down why legitimate pharmacy standards and clinical expertise aren’t just perks—they’re requirements.

The takeaway? Don’t let a “charming misfortune” be the result of your wellness journey. Know your prescriber. Know your source.
