As we enter the holiday season, it becomes a time of reflection and counting our blessings. With that sentiment in mind, Browning Funeral Home has partnered with Parker County Center of Hope on a Christmas Toy Drive. We are accepting donations of new and unwrapped toys from now through Friday December 5. Last year, Center of Hope distributed approximately 4,000 toys to children in need. With the current economic state, it is anticipated that the need this year will exceed last year’s number. Please consider donating to help provide a little Christmas cheer. The drop-off location is Browning Funeral Home, located at 116 Wheeler Street, Weatherford.

This Veterans Day, take a moment to thank a veteran for their service or use the opportunity to remember those veterans who are no longer with us. We would love to have you share their name and branch of service with us, including a photo if you have one. Remember, freedom is not free and by the grace of God we have these men and women who served our country proudly and bravely; each one willing to give the ultimate sacrifice if necessary. God bless our veterans and God bless the United States of America.

Tomorrow there will be a Veterans Day Celebration downtown following the Veterans Day parade. Come out and be with us at this great event. In preparation for Tuesday, take a moment to thank a veteran, and take the time to remember those in our lives who served.

At Browning Funeral Home, we believe in honoring those who served. In that spirit, we are a proud advocate and supporter of American Legion Auxiliary’s Wreaths Across America campaign. This worthy cause is a nationwide effort to to place wreaths on the graves of veterans at Christmas. This years ceremony and laying of wreaths will be December 13 at 11am at Memory Gardens Cemetery on Mineral Wells Highway. They are half way to covering the amount of wreaths needed to lay one on every veterans grave at Memory Gardens. Please consider making a donation to this worthy cause and honor the lives of the men and women who served so bravely to keep us free. Deadline is November 28.

Wreaths Across America ("WAA") coordinates wreath-laying ceremonies every December to "Remember, Honor, and Teach" about the sacrifices made by our veterans and their families.
