This client has been working on fine motor and executive functioning skills. Tasks like planning, organizing, and following multiple steps can feel overwhelming for him.

With the support of our creative team, he chose a project that felt exciting and personal: building his own version of Guess Who.

Inspired by another client’s progress, he brought in the game from home, used it as a template, and completed the entire process on his own.

And then he went home and recreated it with his sibling as a bonding activity.

Recently in OT and Speech Sessions 🍦
 We had a blast with an ice cream craft that was more than just fun. It helped kids build everyday skills while creating something sweet.

This simple activity supported:

- Fine motor skills like using utensils and hand strength - Bilateral coordination (holding with one hand, mixing with the other) - Visual motor and perception skills - Executive functioning like planning, sequencing, and focus - Speech goals like S-blend sounds (scoop, strawberry), following directions, and asking for what they need

Therapy doesn’t always look like worksheets. Sometimes it looks like crafts, smiles, and progress you can feel.

This might just look like play, but every part of this activity is supporting your child’s development in a really intentional way.

In this obstacle course, we’re working on things like focus, coordination, strength, and confidence, all through movement kids actually enjoy.

Here’s what we did:

- Picking up paper squares helped with attention and motor planning
- Snow angels supported posture and body awareness
- Belly play with beanbags worked on core strength and coordination
- Rolling uphill challenged the whole body and built confidence

You don’t need fancy equipment to make a big impact. Just thoughtful movement and a little creativity.

If your child struggles with focus, posture, or coordination, this kind of play can really make a difference!

Help us give a big round of applause to our OT student, Emma! 🎉

Today marks the end of her 12-week Level II fieldwork placement here at Creative Development, and we couldn’t be prouder. Emma is a graduate of Sacred Heart University’s OT program and is just one board exam away from officially becoming an occupational therapist!
