Today we had the privilege of hosting a ceremony for Alan McNeil, who was honored with a Quilt of Valor.
Quilt of Valor is a high-quality, handmade quilt awarded to service members and veterans touched by war. Created by volunteers, these quilts function as a civilian-level award to express gratitude, provide physical and emotional comfort, and ensure recipients know they are not alone.
Every Quilt of Valor is designed to consist of three layers, each with a specific symbolic meaning:
The Top: The many colors and fabrics represent the various individuals and communities coming together.
The Batting: The center layer represents the warmth, peace, and healing the quilt brings to the recipient.
The Backing: This layer represents the strength of both the recipient and the nation supporting them.
