It’s good to be educated, but constantly reading different articles or over-researching can lead to stress or comparison Tip: Set limits for how much time you spend reading adoption content and choose trusted sources.

CONNECT REGULARILY WITH SUPPORT NETWORKS
Whether it’s a trusted friend, an adoption support group, or a counselor familiar with adoption, having a safe space to share your emotions and questions can make a huge difference. Tip: Join a local or online community for adoptive families to feel less alone and more understood.

Kids may be asked things like, “Why don’t you look like your parents?” or “Are those your real mom and dad?” Talk through age-appropriate ways to respond and remind them they’re not obligated to share personal details.
