- Ted Kaptchuk, The Web That Has No Weaver

It always comes back to this - Yin and Yang.

The wisdom of East Asian Medicine is inexhaustible. This is why I will always be fascinated and forever be a student of this Ancient Medicine. I may know the fundamentals and can effectively help people with the tools in my kit, and yet this there is still so much to learn to keep me engaged, humbled, and fascinated. We are barley scratching the surface here.

I will forever be grateful to this Ancient Medicine and the role that I signed up for in this go-around πŸ™πŸ’«

🌿 Herbal Medicine is an extremely potent form of therapy. This is why patients should never self-prescribe herbs, especially because they look so β€˜safe’, β€˜natural’ and β€˜harmless’.

🌿 There are at least 365 herbs in the Chinese Materia Medica, Shen Nong Ben Cao Jing, and over 250 formulas that licensed acupuncturists and herbalists have to learn in order to safely prescribe herbs.

🌿 Licensed herbalists are well-equipped to co-treat patients who are taking pharmaceuticals and are your best resource if you plan to include herbal medicine in your wellness journey. πŸͺ΄πŸ’πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

πŸ‘‹ Hello, acu peeps! Today, let’s talks about Cupping!

πŸ‘‰ Cupping is a supplemental therapy, often used in conjunction with acupuncture.

πŸ‘‰ Cups are applied on specific areas of the body to create a vaccum, relaxing rigid tissue, encouraging fresh blood flow to the area, stimulating the lymphatic system for rapid detoxification of cellular waste.

πŸ‘‰ Cupping marks are the result of stagnant blood and fluids brought onto the surface of the skin, which can now easily dissipate.

πŸ‘‰ As a result, healthy circulation is restored, pain is reduced, and chronic injuries can now heal as a result of fresh oxygen and nutrients flooding the tissue.

πŸ‘‰ Cupping may be used for, but is not limited to: chronic pain, cervical spondylosis, bronchial disorders such as allergies and asthma, onset of cold or flu, stress related tension, migraines, and cosmetic treatments

πŸ’§Remember to hydrate post treatment to facilitate the excretion of cellular waste.

πŸͺ΄πŸ€ Swipe to the very end to see Riz before she became

Since school has taken most of our time, we learned to have fun and make it an enjoyable experience. This is me tracing the Du Channel, which follows the path of the spinal cord up from the tailbone, across the top of the head, ending inside the mouth, on the upper gum. It influences all the Yang channels, and is used in conditions involving the spine and the brain, relieving tension and pain along its pathway.

Acupuncture can be a little unnerving when you see multiple needles inserted. Acupuncture needles are very thin - thinner than a medical syringe and sewing needle. With the proper training, acupuncture is completely safe. Go visit your nearest acupuncturist! πŸ’πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Hello there πŸ‘‹ here’s a sneak peak into the clinic.

πŸ‘‰ The clinic is located along Kemah’s Lighthouse District along Bradford Avenue and 7th Street.

πŸ‘‰ It shares a space with a Licensed Aesthetician and a Licensed Massage Therapist for that complete wellness experience πŸ’†πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ§˜πŸ»β€β™€οΈ πŸ’πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸͺ΄

πŸ‘‰ Massage beds are heated and relaxing music is played in the background to complement your treatment πŸ’†πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

πŸ‘‰ Indulge yourself in nature as you bask in the sunlight, or watch the sunset as you enjoy your meal post-treatment.

Some will say it’s the β€œPerfect Getaway” but I would submit it’s perfect way to be Present, Alive, and Fully Embodied.

Enjoy being in your body. Carve time for self-care. It’s a sacred practice. πŸ™

Meet

Hello, thank you for stopping by.

I'm a state licensed and nationally board-certified Acupuncturist & Herbalist offering individualized care to the Greater Southeast Houston community. I am passionate about empowering people to live more conscious, and embodied lives.

My journey with acupuncture began when I witnessed the struggle of a friend suffering from a chronic illness. I felt helpless and knew there must be a way to treat illnesses outside of conventional means. I found a local acupuncturist in Houston to treat my friend. This acupuncturist would then become my mentor. This relationship then catapulted my journey on the path of Eastern Medicine.

As part of my clinical education and training, I was given the opportunity to work on a variety of conditions ranging from pain management, mental health, addiction recovery, digestive issues, post-chemotherapy care, autoimmune disorders, and chronic illnesses such as Lyme disease and fibromyalgia.

While the practice of Eastern Medicine allows me to treat a wide variety of conditions, I have a particular interest in endocrinology, internal medicine, autoimmune disorders, gut health, and mental health.

I believe the future of medicine is integrative. More importantly, I believe that the body always wants to heal itself, if only we create the environment to hold space for its healing.
