3 Tips on How to Have a Healthy Halloween 🎃👻

1️⃣ Be Prepared for Candy Cravings 🍫

It can be hard to resist extra candy laying around. One way to avoid temptation is to buy candy that the kids will like, but you don't... If you crave chocolate, buy sour candies and vice versa!OR practice your portion control and allow for one small treat in your meal plan for the day!

2️⃣ Non-Food Treats 🎃

If you're not sure you can stick to portion control or resist your candy cravings, you should avoid purchasing candy altogether and hand out ‘non-food’ treats to your kids and trick or treaters. This could include small toys like pop its, stickers, pencils, erasers, or other little goodies.

3️⃣ Keep Your Mouth 'Busy' 🍿

Sipping or snacking on something zero calorie or low calorie can help keep your mouth 'busy' when you may otherwise reach for a sweet treat. Find a couple enjoyable low-calorie drinks or snacks to enjoy as you wait for trick or treaters or while you watch a scary movie. Try hot tea, coffee, low calorie sparkling water, light popcorn etc. This can be a fun time to get creative with healthy snacks and drinks!

"I gained about 40 pounds in less than 2 years and noticed my cholesterol had rapidly increased. I decided it was time for a change if I wanted to stay fit and healthy. I felt scared being listed as “obese”. I knew the weight had to come off. I didn’t know how fast I would lose weight and was a bit skeptical, but only 5 months later on this program I am a size 6 instead of a size 12. I found a healthy balance with not restricting myself to certain things I like, such as Starbucks or desserts, but just limiting the amount I consumed. I incorporated daily walking into my routine as well as taking the stairs instead of elevators.

My advice to others would be to find your ‘why’! What is the reason why weight loss is important to you – that is what will keep you going. You will be successful by sticking to the dietary plans provided by the clinic."

If you are looking for some easy, low effort dinners to incorporate during the week – try out this crockpot BBQ pulled pork recipe that can be used two ways and you’ll have two nights of healthy, delicious meals covered!

Here's how to make the pulled pork ⬇️
2-3 lbs pork tenderloin (about 2 tenderloins)
2 tsp each of smoked paprika, garlic powder, cumin, onion powder
1 tsp salt
½ tsp pepper
½ TBSP Liquid Smoke
1.5 cup chicken broth
1 cup G Hughes BBQ (add after cooking)

Directions
1️⃣ Trim fat and silver skin from pork tenderloins.
2️⃣ In a small bowl mix all the dry ingredients (paprika, garlic powder, cumin, onion powder, salt, pepper). Rub over the surface of the pork tenderloins.
3️⃣ Place pork tenderloins in the crockpot. Pour the chicken broth and liquid smoke around the tenderloins.
4️⃣ Cook on low for 4-6 hours or until pork can be easily shredded with a fork.
5️⃣ Once cooked, shred using two forks. Mix with any remaining liquid. Add 1 cup of G Hughes Sugar Free BBQ sauce and mix.
