In vitro and in vivo studies suggest that IGFBP-4 plays an important role in the growth regulation of a variety of tumors, possibly by inhibiting autocrine IGF actions. Regulation of IGF bioavailability may play a crucial role in tumor growth and development. The measurements of IGFBP-4 along with PAPP-A enzyme activity could be of higher clinical value than just PAPP-A measurements alone since PAPP-A concentration in blood is affected by heparin injections. Other research applications include studies about Diabetes, Acute Coronary Syndrome, Osteoarthritis, Hypertension, Aging and Longevity Studies, Growth Hormone Deficiency, and Cardiomyopathy.

The concentration of human PAPP-A, total human IGFBP-4 and intact human IGFBP-4 in human biological fluid can be measured accurately using immunoassay methods (picoPAPP-A ELISA, AL-101; Total IGFBP-4 ELISA, AL-126; and Intact IGFBP-4 ELISA, AL-128 respectively). Similarly, the concentration of mouse PAPP-A and total mouse IGFBP-4 in biological fluids can be measured accurately using mouse PAPP-A ELISA, AL-158; Rat/Mouse IGFBP-4 ELISA, AL-1025.

Inhibin B is an important and useful research tool for reproductive endocrinology research. Inhibin’s are protein hormones secreted by granulosa cells of the o***y in the female and Sertoli cells of the te**is in the male. They selectively suppress the secretion of pituitary follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and have local paracrine actions in the go**ds. Inhibin B is emerging as a marker for the assessment of developing follicles during ovarian stimulation. By adding Inhibin B into an IVF regime, it can not only assist in monitoring the follicle dynamics but can also help predict mature oocytes in subjects with poor ovarian reserve.

In males, Inhibin B measurements are useful in the assessment of s***matogenesis in infertile patients, especially in cases of azoos***mia. However, the current conventional Inhibin B assays lack the correlation between the testicular s***m extraction (TESE) success and inhibin B concentration. This is due to the lower sensitivity (3.67 pg/mL was associated with increased odds ratio (OR= 4.82; 95% CI: 1.647-12.93) for positive TESE.
