The tag line of the Foundation for the last few years has been, 'We train for your care', and that's more true this year than any other. Through a grant from the New York State Department of Health, the Foundation has been able to partner with skilled nursing facilities in the Finger Lakes region to run certified nursing assistant (CNA) training classes. Partnering with Aaron Manor, Maplewood Nursing Home, Penfield Place and Woodside Manor Nursing Home, the Foundation has already helped train over thirty CNA's in 2017 and will train 25 more in 2018. While 50 or 60 CNA's may not seem like a lot when you consider a region, the fact that those eager trainees are now in the workforce has made the live of 250 nursing home residents that much better.
So what does that have to do with a golf tournament? The answer is, a lot. The proceeds from the Annual Charitable Golf Tournament are used to cover our overhead and separate scholarships that we give to working nursing home employees to assist them with continuing education related tuition costs.
