One step closer.
Taking a vision and cementing it into reality to serve families with autisic children. Mitchell's Mountain CEO Greg Curoso, Special Committee members Ramon Portilla and Cinta Franco, and Board President Joe Breider came together in Bentonville recently to do just that.

🏈🏈🏈 What a great night for Mitchell and our CEO of Mitchell's Mountain, Greg Curoso, as they braved the cold and watched Mitchell's brother and Greg's older son, Joseph, play in the last varsity home football game of the year for Siloam Springs HS.

Mitchell loves being in public places, around other people, but doing it his own way.

It wasn't always like this for Mitchell. But, overtime, he became more and more interested in public events and spaces as he was slowly introduced to larger and larger crowds and for longer periods of time.

Our CEO and Founder, Greg Curoso, spent some time with the team yesterday discussing the vision, layout, and design and build of what we want Mitchell's Mountain to look like and be.

An important first meeting of many to come.

Mitchell's Mountain Leadership and Advisory Board meeting. This meeting was powerful in helping establish a means and path forward for our organization to reach its goal of building a haven and living community for parents to bring their children with high support needs and .

You may see our CEO/Founder, Greg Curoso, running around NWA with the Mitchell's Mountain logo visible on his mission to run every day, at least three miles, for one year straight.

The goal is to raise awareness and funding for what we're doing for people with disabilities. He's currently on day 68! Wave and say hi if you see him around!

Seeing your child thrive is truly priceless. Mitchell seems to be in his element when he’s part of the excitement, but not the center of attention.

It’s also about ensuring he’s included in everyday activities, like attending a sibling’s football game.

🏉 Happy Football Season! 🏉 Having Mitchell attend football games with me to watch his brother is such a blessing. He attends both home and away games and the games have been great for him.

The stadiums/stand give Mitchell the freedom to walk around, stim, yell, and stomp. And usually he does so without judgment.

The noise and crowds can sometimes be a bit much for him, but, with some gentle encouragement, he'll join in and yell for our team and forget about being overstimulated.

I hope you're able to bring your autistic child/grandchild/sibling/neighbor/friend to a football game this fall.

Football may just be the nudge they need to help them get over the hump and thrive a little more socially. But, if you don't try you'll never know!

Something I wish people knew about my non-verbal, autistic son: he loves it when people talk to him and ask him questions.

He won't answer you back.

Most often he will not make eye contact or even act like he hears you.

But I notice the slight facial changes and the glow that comes over him when people show interest in him.

Be brave and engage!
