And it is a wrap! Thank you to all who came out for the HCC Wellness Fair. We had over 160 attendees. Thank you to BCBS of NC for sponsoring the event. Thank you to NFP at HCC team who truly put their boots on the ground along to reach out to students and families in the area. Thank you to HCC departments who took time to answer questions and spark dreams in the students who attended. Also shout out to the awesome community agencies who support families, HCC, and NFP at HCC. Pictures say more than words.

I am so excited that the NE NC NFP at HCC joined ECU Health, WIC, Duke AHEC, and Eastern AHEC in sponsoring the 2025 Breastfeeding Symposium in Greenville, NC. NFP nurse visitors joined other lactation educators to learn about supporting breastfeeding families in eastern NC. Topics covered included Recognizing Human Trafficking, Breastfeeding and Allergic Sensitization, High Stakes: CBD, Breastfeeding and Infant Health, loaner multi-user breast pump program: assessing the Value and Investment for Lactation Support, and the Heart of Professional Excellence: Compassionate Leadership in Practice. There was also an update concerning what was learned from WNC regarding Safe Infant Feeding in Disasters. We all walked away with renewed energy. The topics coincided well with the 2025 Breastfeeding Awareness Month themes of "Create Sustainable Support Systems" and "Move Forward Together." We are "moving forward" together regarding breastfeeding education and support in Eastern North Carolina.

August is National Breastfeeding Awareness Month. The themes for 2025 are "Create Sustainable Support Systems" and "Move Forward Together." We are proud that Halifax Community College supports faculty, staff, and students providing breastmilk for their children. This collaboration between NFP at HCC and the HCC School of Nursing allows moms to attend school or work while still providing the best nutrition for their child. We are moving forward together!
