Postural Restoration Institute’s Forward Locomotor Movement – Coming to Newton, MA
We’re excited to host the Forward Locomotor Movement course by course this May at Divergence Physical Therapy & Wellness in Newton, Massachusetts.
📅 May 2–3, 2026
Led by Dan Houglum, this course invites clinicians to re-examine gait and human locomotion by exploring how cortical dominance, limb coordination, and asymmetry influence the way we move forward.
Attendees will explore:
• How cortical dominance and hemispheric loading influence movement patterns
• Interactions between the upper and lower extremities during gait
• The role of arm swing, leg control, support, and propulsion in forward locomotion
• Asymmetrical gravitational balance and eccentric control during movement
• Clinical strategies for improving locomotor efficiency using PRI non-manual techniques
Participants will also review current literature on neurological and physiological dominance and how these factors influence interlimb and intralimb coordination during forward movement.
These photos are from previous courses we’ve attended & hosted—expect a hands-on, collaborative learning environment with clinicians and coaches from across the region.
We can’t wait to see you there!
