A hands-on project that helps kids identify emotions, practice gratitude, and build self-expression.
โ
Materials
Construction paper (brown for body, assorted colors for feathers)
Scissors (safety scissors for younger children)
Glue stick or tape
Markers or crayons
Optional: googly eyes, stickers, feathers, glitter, etc.
๐ฆ How It Works
Create the Turkey Body
Cut out a circle for the body and a smaller circle for the head.
Glue or tape together.
Make the Feathers
Cut out 6โ10 feather shapes in different colors.
On each feather, the child writes or draws something:
ยฝ can be โthings I'm thankful forโ (family, pets, food, etc.)
ยฝ can be โfeelings Iโve had this weekโ (happy, nervous, mad, excited, etc.)
Discuss While Crafting
Ask open-ended questions:
โHow did you feel when ___ happened?โ
โWhatโs something that makes you feel safe or happy?โ
โWho is someone youโre thankful for and why?โ
Assemble the Turkey
Glue the feathers around the back of the body in a fan shape.
Add eyes, beak, feet, etc.
Optional: write โI am thankful forโฆโ across the bottom.
HAVE FUN!
