The Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County (SWA) reminds residents that lithium batteries should NEVER go in garbage or recycling carts. When damaged, crushed, or punctured, these batteries can spark dangerous fires inside garbage trucks or solid waste facilities—fires that can burn for weeks and cause major damage.

Lithium batteries are found in:

🕹 Gaming systems & controllers
🛴 E-scooters & hoverboards
📷 Digital cameras
🔧 Power tools
🚭 Va**ng devices
…and many more everyday items.

🔥 Be “battery smart” and “fire smart”:
• Tape each battery’s terminals with clear tape
• Drop them off at an SWA Home Chemical & Recycling Center
• Never place lithium batteries in garbage or recycling bins

⚠️ Note: E-bike, e-scooter & certain mobility batteries over 300W-H may not be accepted. Contact the manufacturer or retailer for proper recycling.
