So right around now I would probably be posting a picture of the security gate in my rearview mirror at the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, thanking all of my clients for such a wonderful season, and making plans to see them at horse shows maybe in Tryon, Ocala, or Aiken.
Today I'm thanking them for another reason.
At the beginning of the year I had a terrible fall from a horse, resulting in spinal cord surgery and over a month in the hospital. I am in an intense physical therapy program learning how to walk again. I was/am SO lucky.
Through it all, my clients really had my back, the phone calls, texts, hospital visits, and of course the financial assistance. It was amazing and so appreciated.
I also want to say thank you to my bodyworker friends that pitched in to take care of my clients while I've been recovering.
The horse community… what an amazing set of people. They are not just clients, but I consider them friends. 
Thank you, I love you all, and hope to see you, standing on my own two feet, next season.

Hi everyone, I'm reaching out on a personal level. On Friday, January 9, I took a nasty tumble from a horse I was riding. I had emergency surgery that afternoon on L1 and L2, which are now fused together. The prognosis for recovery is good, but the road is going to be very long. Standing and taking steps is with 100% assistance from physical therapists. Although I have sensation in my feet, I can't make them do what I want. My brain and my feet are just not communicating.
I am going to be unable to work for many months while I learn how to walk again, and as much as it makes me feel awkward and uncomfortable to ask for help, I need help.
A wonderful friend has organized a GoFundMe page, and truly every little bit will help.

Please don't be offended if I ask you, the horse owner, to step back or maybe just completely walk away. Sometimes horses are so tuned into 'their person' that they can't focus on their body work. This horse was fidgeting, going back-and-forth, just wouldn't settle down. The owner stepped away, and within a minute I was getting beautiful yawn releases.

The snowbirds are coming! Amie Gentile and her lovely herd of horses have made it to Florida. Avery had to take a nice little nap after his bodywork session today, and mom tiptoed in for a little pat!

If a person yawns in my face, I would be offended. But if a horse yawns in my face during a session, I take it as a huge compliment.

Ahhhh, gotta love the droopy lower lip during a session. There was an impressive drool string as well, but it dripped off before I could get my phone out.
