This week's associate spotlight shines on Brooke Yetman, Lead Blood Bank Medical Laboratory Scientist in the lab for the past 6.5 years.

"Brooke is an exceptional Lead Technologist in our Blood Bank department. She is a resource for all Techs, Nurses and Providers when it comes to all Blood Bank procedures. Brooke steps up to assist any where help is needed, even volunteering for 3rd shifts without even being asked. Brookes commitment and knowledge has been evident with no findings for Blood bank in our NYS DOH and TJC inspections this year. Brooke leads by example and is an asset to our lab family." - Elaine Austin, Lab Director

What is your favorite part of working at Jones: I met my wife when I came back to Jones in 2019 (we didn’t know it then). I enjoy working with all the unique individuals that make up our laboratory. We all work tirelessly behind the scenes of patient care. The work that we put in for our patients, our inspections, and each other does not go without notice. We impact hundreds of patients lives daily by providing their physicians with reliable accurate results to improve the quality of their life.

What’s the best piece of advice you have ever received/ what’s your favorite quote? When I was in my third year of college at the University of Buffalo and had a string of adversities come my way. On one of my visits home my mom handed me a bracelet that read “Let your faith be bigger than your fears.” Now, to this day that has been my anchor.

What is my favorite hobby? Besides hanging out with my boys, I love to play fantasy football.

What’s your dream vacation? I would love to travel to the Maldives.

If you could meet one famous person, alive, or dead, who would it be and why? I would be honored to meet Alecia Moore a.k.a the singer/songwriter P!nk. I absolutely adore her songs and what she embodies. She is strong, powerful, authentic human. She is always a beaming proud mother in the midst of chaos.

If you could have one superpower what would it be? Omnilingualism: The power to speak, understand and decipher any and all languages.

Favorite podcast to get you though your day? “This podcast will kill you” on spotify

Best tv show you would recommend? ER – it is a classic and the medicine is fairly accurate.

It's Antibiotic Awareness Week and JMH is raising awareness about antimicrobial resistance (AMR). 🦠💊

✅Antibiotics are appropriate only for bacterial infections - they will not help against colds, the flu or COVID-19.

✅Take antibiotics as prescribed.

✅Prevention is key! Good handwashing, covering coughs and sneezes and getting recommended vaccinations can help reduce the spread of infection.

It was move in day today for our general surgery team into their new clinic space on the third floor. The updated and expanded space includes 3 treatment rooms and 2 exam rooms. This expansion will allow for more minor procedures, not needing sedation, to take place right in the clinic, without the need to schedule time in the OR. One more way JMH is striving to expand access to advanced healthcare in our community.
