Today, we’re wearing blue to stand together in support of those affected by colorectal cancer and to raise awareness about the importance of early detection.

Colorectal cancer is one of the most common cancers—but when caught early, it’s also one of the most preventable and treatable. Screening is recommended starting at age 45, and simple at‑home options are available by calling your provider or requesting one through MyChart.

Join us by wearing blue today and helping spread the word. Together, we can encourage conversations, screenings, and support for our community.

Congratulations to Darren Hess, MD (General Surgeons—Mares Campus) for being selected as our employee honoree for the 2026 REACH Awards presented by Confluence Health! These awards recognize our employees and providers who demonstrate dedication to our organization and represent the best that Confluence Health has to offer.

In nominating Darren, his co-workers said, "Dr. Hess provided exceptional teamwork by joining Dr. Park's procedure—that had been underway for over 12 hours—to offer a break or to help in some way. Dr. Park asked if Dr. Hess would be willing to assist with closure, and Dr Hess got right to work...This daunting task would have taken a couple hours more if Dr. Park had to do it alone, but it only took a little over an hour thanks to Dr. Hess. This was very appreciated and was helpful to patient safety—as well as allowing the patient to come off anesthesia earlier."

Cancer survivors, patients, caregivers, and loved ones — today is for you.

Join us today at the Town Toyota Center from 4:30–6:00 PM for the Paint the Ice event. You’re invited to paint the names of those affected by cancer directly onto the ice — messages of love, strength, and remembrance that will remain sealed and visible during our Hockey Fights Cancer game on February 28th.

If you’d like to take part in something even more meaningful, you can also sign up today to participate in “Lining the Ice” during the Feb. 28th game — a powerful moment honoring everyone touched by cancer. Sign‑ups and information will be available at the Paint the Ice table.

Let’s come together and fill the rink with hope, courage, and connection.

Your story matters — and we’d be honored to share the ice with you.

Our Story

At Confluence Health, we are dedicated to improving our patients’ health by providing safe, high-quality care in a compassionate and cost-effective manner.

Confluence Health is an integrated healthcare delivery system that includes two hospitals, more than 40 medical specialties and primary care, to provide comprehensive medical care throughout North Central Washington. With over 270 physicians and 150 advanced practice clinicians, Confluence Health is the major medical provider between Seattle and Spokane. Our goal is to deliver high-quality, safe, compassionate, and cost-effective care close to home. Staying on the leading edge of healthcare innovation is important, so we invest in technology—to provide better care for our patients and allow our providers to operate at the highest level.

Located in the heart of Washington, we enjoy open skies, snow-capped mountains, and the lakes and rivers of the high desert. We are the proud home of orchards, farms, and small communities. Confluence Health actively supports the communities we serve and their quality of life through our community support program and through our individual efforts as involved community members. We encourage your questions and comments but would like to remind you that all of your posts are public.
